No Man's Double Dip. Already got me once Mr. Murray!

But nah, will pick it up for Xbox again. When it's like $5.

I purposefully stayed away due to its awful launch but I am so glad the devs didn't abandon the game. I'll be getting it for the X as I am confident it is now the game it was meant to be at launch.

Bought this game when the collector's edition was on sale several months ago, but never played it. Looks like it's good to continue to hold off.

No Man’s Sky developer Sean Murray: ‘It was as bad as things can get’

Some quotes...

“The internet is really good at knowing when somebody has made a mistake,” says Murray. “It’s not necessarily the best at determining the most appropriate response, but it’s really good at knowing when somebody has messed something up. We definitely messed up a whole bunch of communication. I’ve never liked talking to the press. I didn’t enjoy it when I had to do it, and when I did it, I was naive and overly excited about my game. There are a lot of things around launch that I regret, or that I would do differently.”

He is reluctant to relive the particulars of what happened in the weeks and months following No Man’s Sky’s release in August 2016 (“I find it really personal, and I don’t have any advice for dealing with it,” he says), but it involved death threats, bomb threats sent to the studio and harassment of people who worked at Hello Games on a frightening scale. They were in regular contact with Scotland Yard and the Metropolitan police. “We didn’t talk about it, but it was as bad as things can get, basically,” Murray says. “There’s a smorgasbord of things that the angry mob can do. It is a crowdsourced thing of how bad you can make someone’s life."

“I remember getting a death threat about the fact that there were butterflies in our original trailer, and you could see them as you walked past them, but there weren’t any butterflies in the launch game. I remember thinking to myself: ‘Maybe when you’re sending a death threat about butterflies in a game, you might be the bad guy.’”

....

“We did something that I think I’ve always done, when I look back at my life,” says Murray. “When I’ve dealt with s***ty situations when I was kid, moving between lots of schools, or when I’ve had s***ty bosses later in life … I basically just get my head down, and I work, and I avoid. I just focus on making games, making cool creative things, and that’s an outlet for me. I think the team just wanted to do that.”

....

“That’s what you make games for,” he says. “You’re stood there, and there is admittedly an angry mob in front of you, but behind that there’s a crowd of others. I just want to communicate with them directly. I want to make things for them.”

Calling someone wrong name is a mistake. Knocking on the wrong door is a mistake. What he did wasn't a mistake, it was misleading people into a game that never was as he described.

He didn't like to talk to the press? Then he was the one hell of an actor, worthy of an Oscar. I saw him on some show & he seems to be enjoying it. More like he dislikes talking to the press when he knew they want to grind him after launch.

Get over it.

I understand that people may never let the grudge go, but it has been 2 years and they've done nothing but work to improve the game.

People need to remember too, there were (maybe still are) lawsuits over this. They can't come out and apologize, because that opens them up for lawsuits.

Anyway I can't wait to see where the game goes now, although they've been very quiet about it (finally learned their lesson).

For those that can't get over their rage, maybe check out the person suing Star Citizen to get their $4500 back.

I won't hold it against them (I believe in forgiveness, of course); but they DO have to prove themselves now. No free passes. They seem to be honestly trying to make amends....

Not sure how the multiplayer will work but if anyone on PS4 wants to give it a try, I'll attempt to actually play some games these days.

My brother is trying to reel me into playing this coop. He loves it other than a horrible glitch. He said the patch causes his starship's guns to hurt him every time he fires them. He literally can't shoot his mining lasers or cannons without taking self-damage. Bizarre. Sucks too because it was a 90 million dollar ship or something.

Don't see the 60fps option on the Pro...
Its supposed to have one.

Yeah there's an option to "limit framerate" or something, but it didn't seem to do anything. I don't know what framerate I was getting, but I don't think it was anywhere near 60. The framerate actually seemed pretty bad at times (not that this is a big twitch game where it needs it).

Overall though the game is a huge improvement since launch. I only got to see a few planets, but the game finally delivered with some amazing planets and views. I restarted a clean game, but somehow got stuck on some high radiation planet and died before I could find my ship. I finally get my ship out of orbit and see a beautiful earth like planet with a moon with huge rings around it. That's the Asimov-like book cover I was promised years ago!

I got the game cheap on Steam and may switch over there. Master race and all. :)

Supposedly there is a pretty nasty save game bug out there. PC just got a patch, but consoles are going through cert. Might want to hold off digging too deep until it hits on your platform. If you do, back up your save file on a usb or something and set it aside.
