Pretty sure financial statements are audited. Why would Sony lie to get this backfired onto them with even more legal implications?

True, third-party auditors pour over the data that is released to the public/investors and errors found will be disclosed. And I would think after the recent scandal involving Japanese Auto manufacturers related to doctored and outright false emission results that they got caught doing, Sony would not risk such a thing happening and thus be transparent with their disclosures.

Agreed. And same with Microsoft and their attorneys in this case. If MS was caught lying during a 70 billion dollar acquisition, imagine what the DOJ will do to the company going forward.

That's why I said MS prob added other numbers in to inflate it to paint a picture with bigger disparity. Otherwise it just doesn't make sense.
