Quick edit:PS4 = 4.2 million
X1 = Over 3 million
Now what?
Quick edit:
PS4 = 4.2 million from 48 countries, launched Nov 15, $400
X1 = Over 3 million from 13 countries, launched Nov 22, $500

Just imagine how many more X1s would be sold if it was in 35 more countries too.Just imagine how much more PS4 sales would be if more were in stock. Mind blown.
by further extrapolation... Assuming only 3M consoles - MS only needs to sell another 360k to be "equal" in sales...
since they reported being a little over 3M ... They're probably only 200k away..
which means by now they've probably caught up and passed in sales..
Just imagine how many more X1s would be sold if it was in 35 more countries too.
For Nov, both X1 and PS4 were hard to find in the US. PS4 had two weeks of sales, cost $400 and sold about 1.1M. X1 had one week of sales, cost $500 and sold about 900k.
Not such a big discrepancy anymore when a more apples to apples comparison is used.
Sony sold less consoles per country in order to hit up more countries, while MS saturated less countries with more units.
In the end, Sony sold about a million more than MS, and PS4s are still harder to find than XB1s. For reference, Amazon STILL doesn't haven't any PS4s, while they've had XB1s in stock for the longest. PS4s are being snatched up quick.
Walmart online has XB1s in stock while PS4s are still out of stock. SAme goes for Best Buy and Target.
Just imagine how much more PS4 sales would be if more were in stock. Mind blown.
Relax Qbert, the guy was posting for fun and even ended it with the wink sign.huh?
A little over 3 mil is just that....a little over. If it was a significant amount, they would have said so.....like.....4.2 million. As of 2013, they were about a million away from PS4, not only 200k.
And what....you think XB1s continued selling while PS4s did not? lol
What's funny, is that even with Amazon having a hard time keeping PS4s in stock, PS4 is listed in the #2 spot for video games best seller while XB1 that is in stock is at #10. PS4s are selling like hotcakes, and selling faster than XB1.

this is such a weird argument... Unless we know the actual per store distribution as compared to the X1 then this is all a big "what if" scenario...
all this actually proves is that the PS4 is being sold to a wider swath of area... And at best at a 4:3 ratio or less depending on how you break down the numbers....
there's no guarantee that if Sony produced or distributed more back solely to the US like MS has focused on that they'd continue selling at the rate they were nearer to launch...
So PS4 sold 4+ million and is supposedly sold out everywhere in 48 countries.About the same as what they sold in less countries, because they would have had to distribute less units per country. There's only so many units they could produce in a certain time frame.

X1 sold about 3M in 13 countries, supposedly has piles of X1s lying around, and would sell no more if that stock was allocated across more countries?
Interesting viewpoint.
As for a different perspective regarding units produced, please share with all of us the manufacturing capacity of X1 and PS4. And don't forget transit times and distribution. Batches of product can be made and sold, but still "in-transit" on trucks or boats, and there's skids of consoles awaiting shipment from warehouses.
I await your math.
But it's a fair assumption, considering that demand here in the states is still high for PS4s. We all know that the XB brand in most popular in the states, and over seas not so much. Distributing XB1s to other countries while cutting back supply in the states wasn't going to yield more units sold as some people are thinking, it would have sold still about the same.
There's only so many units to go around, so you either sell more units per country in less countries, or you sell less units per country to more countries.
So to understand your point again, if MS spread out some of it's leftover US stock to other countries it hasn't released in, the sales increase would be zero.But it's a fair assumption, considering that demand here in the states is still high for PS4s. Who ever said anything about leftover US stock allocated to other countries is assumed to be 1M.... until you just did right now.What's not to understand. If those units sitting unsold throughout the states and online were diverted to other countries, the XB1s would sell over there, but let's be honest, these foreign countries are not big MS supporters, so it's highly unlikely that a million would have sold in those countries. We also don't know many XB1s are sitting unsold....I highly doubt that there's even a million sitting unsold throughout the country.
As for manufacturing capabilities, of course I don't know what it is, but it's fair to assume that as of Nov of last year, what ever was produced had been sold out and accounted for via pre-orders (for the most part, for both PS4 and XB1). SO yes, it's a safe assumption to assume that there's only so many PS4s and XB1 that can be made within a certain time frame.
So to understand your point again, if MS spread out some of it's leftover US stock to other countries it hasn't released in, the sales increase would be zero.
Well, I guess MS should just cap X1 in 13 countries because any new territory would lead to zero sales there. LOL

ah.... Nobody's listening...
already too much assuming goin' on....
Did I say zero? Hello mister put words into my mouth.

In other words, zero increase.
I know, I am doing a lot of assuming, but it's no different than people assuming if MS sold to more countries that XB1 sales could have beaten PS4s sales, which is the assumption for the past couple of weeks that some people insinuate.
