Is the MG4 that much better than the M249? So far I'm enjoying the 249 a lot, though the recoil/stability seems crazy worse than in BF3.

249 and MG4 have the exact same stats, except for recoil patterns. The 249 has more side to side recoil and MG4's had more vertical. Since vertical is easier to manage, most prefer it.

I finally put some time into it last night, I'm really impressed. I loved the MG4, but where I would have called it one of the best LMGs in the game, I'd say the AWS is one of the best guns in the game. It's got aim down sight accuracy much more similar to an assault rifle, similar reload as well. Extremely small recoil. Pair that all with the suppression effect of LMGs and you sorta have the best of both worlds. I'm having a lot of fun with it, I think you'll like it.

man you are definitely pushing me to get naval strike lol

I'm sure they play the same, but unless DF is lying one version has 56% more pixels and about a 10-15fps higher average frame rate, so they can't look exactly the same.

The ps4 is the better version when pixel counting, but playing both back to back I can't tell any difference... at all. Maybe the brightness if I really had to say something.

keep in mind different attachments affect the recoil patterns for each weapon. but you are 100 percent correct as far as the horizontal recoil for the 249 and the vertical for the mg4 with 0 attachments.

Running w/the MG4, gun is awesome compared to the 249. To me there seems to be zero horizontal recoil compared to the 249 and vertical seems almost in the same park. So much easier to keep on target, in the couple hrs I used it last night I unlocked the first five attachments for it.

played few games on PS4(my bro is away so took his PS4), it does look abit cleaner. also it was super easy, thats either being in a poor lobby or i always seem to have easier time on PS when playing MP (although majority of my MP is done on xbox cause of controller)

but my PS4 soldier is on another battlelog account :( i dont know how i managed that http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/soldier/Dibils89/stats/197891871/ps4/

i guess when i first played it i put in different email? or it automatically used my PSN email which is different from my Xbox email

yeah I mostly game on ps4 and its the same thing, very ugly in the distance.

so 1080p doesnt even fix it ? that blows. battlefield always struck me as a game with a high variance in graphics. its like there is too much going on to achieve decent consistency.

Many (myself included) are reporting massively improved results regarding servers, rubberbanding, lag, etc. on both PS4 and X1. I played naval strike maps all evening on PS4 last night without any issues, it was great.

There was a minor server update yesterday, and Dice also announced that they were going to start resetting all servers weekly, but many think there may have been a quiet implementation of new server hardware, as someone at Dice tweeted they were getting new hardware for PS4 a week or two ago.

I'm hoping the improvements remain, I had an absolute blast rocking the AWS on the Naval Strike maps! Nice to finally get to enjoy those maps without raging!

Played the other day for a couple hours and it ran smooth the whole time. :)

Are all the DLC pack self contained playlists, i.e. Naval Strike is just NS maps? I bought Second Assault a while back and while its fun I wish they had servers that have the DLC integrated w/game disc maps.

That's correct. I too wish there were more options, but I'm assuming they don't want to fragment the community too much that way.

Yeah that's the tough thing when releasing DLC, is fragmenting the community. I'm surprised they don't at least have season pass servers, at least you know everyone on those servers will have all the available maps. Even rent a server like in BF3 would open some options

Don't want to jinx it but game has been playing smooth the past few days (ps4). Finally feels like i can enjoy it.

But now they seem to have an issue with 44 player servers lol

thats why we need custom servers back!!

much better AND DIFFERENT map rotations are needed, we need big ticket games just to f*** about and unlock stuff... we need rental servers god damn it!

but i guess they cant even run the current servers well enough, i doubt letting people use their servers will be any good

also i miss 500% Conquest Operation metro servers :|

I just noticed Dice's new message. High performance servers added to kill rubberbanding.

HELL YES.

Here's the official message:
Hi everyone,

As you know, we’ve been looking into resolving the “rubber banding” that some players on certain platforms have experienced with Battlefield 4 after the recent release of Naval Strike. We’ve found that the root cause of the issue was a configuration of certain hardware types dedicated to 64-player matches.

We have invested in new hardware to resolve this issue and deployed new higher-performance servers this week. In preparation, we conducted a significant amount of testing before installing the new servers to ensure they would correct the issue. We are already seeing performance improvement with 64-player matches and expect this to continue.

While the process took longer than we would’ve liked, we wanted to be 100% sure it was done right and that the long-term solution was properly in place.

Our objective is to deliver the best player experience possible. We feel this solution helps us deliver that to you. Stay tuned to our official channels for more information.

Thanks,

Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE VP & GM

Yes, they definitely need a random map rotation, that would help a lot.

I'd like 500% conquest on Metro again too, though I don't miss the game timing out/freezing up 75% of the way into the match

My buddy online spends a lot of time talking to some of those DICE guys, he knows a lot of them directly & has gamed with them a number of times. He said they aren't even sure if they are going to put Custom Servers on consoles at all. They want to so they can make money, but he told me they said they know the Custom Servers aren't working for consoles & it would be a "last ditch effort."

PS4 people with Premium (Scrubs, Cutting, etc.), if you're around this weekend and still playing BF4, let's squad up for some 64 player Naval Strike matches!

They worked on BF3, why the trouble now then?
Because BF3 wasn't pushed out as a broken game to beat Call of Duty to launch where BF4 was. The game wasn't finished & they put it out with sloppy coding, unfinished. DICE asked for 6 more months to work on it & EA forced it out against everybody's wishes. Plus, BF3 wasn't 64 players on the larger console crowd & even then it did have a lot of troubles with the Custom Servers 12 vs. 12 in a lot more stable game.
