I have the same problem had a scare for a sec thinking i got hacked gave me pass error.
What's weird is that I had just finished downloading Outlast and then got the message about maintenance.
The game is pretty faithful to the PC version which is not as big of shock as the developers are making it out to be. The game won't be winning any awards for graphic fidelity.
I could only play one chapter, then had to put it down.
Too much anxiety, such a dreadful game.
Wait until you are all alone, turn out ALL the lights, put your headphones on, stick your face in the TV.
Allow yourself to be immersed...stop telling yourself "it's only a game".

No weapons. You have to hide in the darkness or behind and even under objects (Beds for example). You'll have to play the game to see what it is like.
You have to keep collecting batteries for your camcorder otherwise you will be completely f*cked.
Yeah, it's actually quite a change of pace from your normal everyday game. It's refreshing. I'm at the male ward now and going to try to finish the game today. Then I have the insanity trophy to finish... that'll be fun.
I think I saw a video somewhere saying the game was only created by 12 people so that's cool.
Didn't go online last night out here, seems like it went up at about 2-3am this morning.

I can only go through 2 areas or so before taking a break because too much tension in my nerves. I get too stressed if I play too long haha.

Prepare to be scared! The atmosphere is really creepy. I just beat the game, probably going to try to go for the insanity trophy later in one go since there's no checkpoints or save points, lol.

I'm really enjoying this game. Does anyone know if this developer is considering also bringing this to Xbox One under ID@Xbox? Using kinects ability to read your heart rate would be crazy in a game like this.
Well, there is this one f*cked up scene when you walk in on a couple of psychos...doing stuff. That's all i will say.
Plus you do see penOrs every once in a while.
Played some last night and I jumped a couple times. Interested to see if the story develops enough to keep me interested.
I turned out all my lights to play and that dang controller beam really is annoying...or my only comfort. LOL
