Pillars of Eternity - Official Thread

Things are really picking up now that I'm at the Hold. Finally, have a party (6). Again, I'm playing on hard, so I only can do 2 rests. I try to be conservative with spells. I don't want to be running back to town whenever I'm low. I love the fact my guys are hanging on barely and still try to tackle the next set of enemies.

So, far my biggest tactic is sending my primary character, a rogue, into a room...aggro a group and drag them in a small corridor or hallway to have a better hand at dealing with them. This really takes me back to the old days.

I'm getting more familiar with defense and offensive terms and abilities and what most of the spells and talents do.

Damn this game came out at the worst time for me. I've been keeping my eye on this for a long time and it's finally here but when I don't have the damn time. Looks great though.

Works well as a Bloodborne breather game.

Really enjoying this one, about to get to the stronghold and just hired a companion to help my team, definitely a really really good rpg and something that will last for awhile i hope.

I heard that was a early bug. So it's happening to you? I haven't gotten that yet. I have an SSD, so maybe that's helping.

Yes I read that having a SSD does help, it takes about 30-40 sec for me each time to save and load.

That sucks. Does deleting older saves help any? or do the current saves just get bigger?

Gone try delete some savings, have many sow gone take some time.
Current saves are much bigger yes, started out as 115 KB now are 1,6 MB.

Well look at that, deleting some of the saves did indeed help me, thanks Grimmy

No problem. It still sucks you have to do that. You could also copy them over somewhere then delete...just on the chance you wanted to roll back to one of them.

Just started playing this. Loving it so far. Will probably skip Witcher 3 playing through and other games coming out until I finish this or get tired of it. It's what I've been wanting for awhile.. to just relax and enjoy a story-driven hardcore RPG.

I`m impressed, did one quest and it had consequences long after quest was completed, not to often see that in games.

Encountered a man that wanted revenge because I had killed his criminal fiancee

I got this game out of nostalgia for Baldur's Gate. For me part of the love I had for BG was the setting, as I was a big pen & paper D&D guy in the 80s, especially in the Forgotten Realms setting. This game obviously pays a lot of homage to BG but I just haven't clicked with the setting yet. I appreciate how much lore has been developed and how deep it all seems. I will keep at it. The other thing I've noticed is that I'm playing on Normal, and I'm dying quite a bit - I don't have the patience I did as a kid so I may switch back to Easy to progress through the story a bit faster.

Playing on normal me too, was dying much before I reached around level 6, then started getting easier, also did enchant armor and weapons and sow on and bought me some rings to give me better protection.

What has helped me a great deal with this game's setting is getting the Official game guide. It has helped me get deeper into the story. In fact, I started reading this first before getting the game and it has helped a lot. I just started and got into the first city and there are a lot of questions I already need answering. Looking good so far.

Getting close to the end now, are in Act 3 sow I figured would complete the quests I could and the endless paths (are on level 7 of it).
Have played for 40 hours and even sow I wish the game was longer (however endless paths should keep me busy for some more hours).

Ok. So more hours into this game -- I'm about 14hrs in and have yet to get to Act 1. This game is sick!! Cropping up on GOTY for me so far -- slowly taking over Dying Light's position. :) Loving the story and characters and coupled with the game guide, I'm learning a lot! It literally is a next-gen Baulder's Gate. I smiled as I heard my animancers shouting magic languages when they cast spells. :)

Game is good, but not hitting GOTY levels for me. I'm really glad this genre is coming back, but I think it still has a lot of room to grow, and needs to in order to reach its potential. I think this game plays it a bit too safe.

I'm looking forward to Torment: ToN immensely, and hope that can really scratch my CRPG itch when it arrives.

Managed after long time to kill the master below (Endless path), some more side quests and will be back to Act 3.

And finished the game, great story. I see there are many endings, but do not know if I am gone go back to do them all.

After forking over $100 to the Kickstarter, I finally have been able to play this game. I'm fresh into Act II, but this game is so far completely worth the investment. I hope this is the lifeline that Obsidian has so richly deserved for all these years. They truly brought their A-game to this title.

saw this on sale so I picked it up on my macbook pro. Im looking forward to trying it. I've heard nothing but good things.

Reactions: DLC and Grimmy
I recently started playing Torchlight and downloaded the F2P game Path of Exile to play with friends. But when I see this game I can't help but wish I was playing it instead lol.

I believe it's finally time to buy this game. Anyone play the White March DLC? Any idea if continues the end of the story or if it's access while playing the main game? Anyways need to finish up Quantum Break and probably my most recent Mass Effect 1 play through. I imagine once I dig into this game there is no coming back. Hopefully Steam sale or even spring sale soon.
