Sony Denmark adds fuel to speculation of Crash Bandicoot's return

In a new twist to the rumours that just won’t cease, a picture of Crash Bandicoot has again emerged on a Sony-controlled Twitter account.

Following the decrypted appearance of Crash in Sony’s ‘This is for the Players’ PlayStation 4 advert back in November, the Internet’s been abuzz with speculation as to whether or not the famed mascot would be making a belated reappearance on Sony’s machine.

To add fuel to the fire, the Danish branch of Sony PlayStation has uploaded a Christmas-themed picture of Crash to its Facebook page, complete with a Naughty Dog-wrapped crate and the translated phrase, ‘’what do you hope to have under the Christmas tree the year?’’ (via NeoGaf).

This comes after Sony Brazil did a similar stunt back in November, seemingly coinciding with Crash’s advert appearance. Since then, Activision has reiterated its position as holders of the license but that hasn’t stopped countless fans from dreaming of Crash’s return to PlayStation.

We're coming upon the 25th year of Crash are we not? :D

Could you imagine a Crash game inspired by the mind of Corrine Yu? ;)

^sony launched the first three ps consoles first of all in japan, this time somehow home country is not a priority, even small countries are getting the nod first. ms also doesn't have a shot in hell in certain countries that sony's been fulfilling lately, so i don't see how that logic could apply. and far as demand goes, i do think there is demand among jp gamers for games like resogun and war thunder, but they'll have to wait until next year.

Japan is a shrinking market when it comes to home gaming consoles, they don't have much in the way of software that really is "Japanese specific" right now and it's also not an area they really need to protect from competition. I was saying long ago that they should hold off on Japan if releasing there meant lowering supply in more competitive markets and I think it was a smart move that they did. Sony is doing their best to insure that they meet MS head to head in the areas where they need to be more competitive (NA/UK) and still protecting the other parts of Europe they had the lead in during the previous gen. What happened with previous console generation launches really means nothing now, Japan isn't going anywhere and waiting a few months isn't going to hurt anything.

Sony: We're More Committed To New IP Than Other Publishers

PlayStation boss Andrew House describes creating new franchises as "critically important."

Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House has spoken out to boast that his company is more committed to creating new intellectual properties than others, though he did not name any names. Following the launch of the PlayStation 4, House told MCV that gamers are more likely to buy into the platform if they know content, including new IP, is coming down the road.

"In terms of sheer breadth and depth, we are in a better shape in terms of third-party support for this console launch than certainly any I've ever launched," House said. "We are more committed to new IP establishment and delivery than most other platform holders out there."

Overall, he described the creation of new IP as "critically important" to the vitality of the PlayStation ecosystem.

Sony's major new franchise for the PS4 is The Order: 1886, an action adventure game set in an alternate universe. Killzone developer Guerrilla Games is also working on a new IP, described as "completely different" than the shooter series the studio is known for.

Third-party new IP coming to PS4 in 2014 includes Tom Clancy's The Division, Watch Dogs, and Destiny.

Italian developers BiteYourConsole have created a new mod called BiteYourPlayer v1.0 Beta which allows you to play video files on your Playstation 4 using its web browser and the power of HTML 5.

http://www.biteyourconsole.net/scena-ps4-rilasciato-biteyourplayer-v1-0-beta/

The new PlayStation 4 is equipped with a web browser from all over, maybe one of the fastest on a console from the living room, and so that BiteYourConsole jumped at the potential offered by a language such as HTML5.

With a speech of this magnitude we were able to make a simple but potential movie player in mp4 format (format commonly used for watching movies via smartphone and PlayStation Portable).

To run the application needs a Http Server, we have chosen HTTP File Server (HFS) that once started will allow us to be able to watch our video from any device connected to our Wi-Fi network.

Configuration

Download the portable version of the HFS program, run it and drag the contents of the file into the window Biteyourplayer.rar Virtual File System.

To be able to watch a movie on the PlayStation 4 via the Web browser does not have to do is drag the movie to the video folder, the files will have the mp4 format and must be renamed to PS4.

After the configuration, there is nothing left to start the server and log on with the IP of your console through the browser (eg 192.168.1.87:7000 / index.html).

Thanks to $n!PR for the idea and Michael Varaquez for having edited the html code.

I feel like we have our own PS4 news section of the forums here.
