"a lot of very unhappy PS4 owners" A few hundred/thousand out of a million = a lot. Hyperbole.
"no available replacements" Wrong, people have been getting replacements at Sony Stores, from Amazon, etc. Replacements are limited due to supply, but not "none".
"PSN is still totally broken, Battlefield 4 updated review for PS4 today." Oh really? I've been able to log in just fine for days. BF4 is having game specific problems that Dice will patch, and has nothing to do with defect rates.
"As the 1-star Amazon reviews pile up" Facepalm.
Sony is currently telling customers that new units won’t be available until February" Quote? Evidence? Source? Anything? Nope, of course not, just a guy on twitter. If a low level tech support said this, they're wrong as people have already sent their consoles back to Sony for replacement within a week. We have official sources contradicting that guy's tweet.
This is sensationalist and exaggerated click bait with no reliable proof of its main claim that Sony is telling people to wait until February. You could write the same crap about any anticipated piece of mass electronics, including iPhones or whatever. They all have failure rates and limited supply at launch, it's nothing new.
I really hope for the sake of posters promoting FUD, wrong info, and hit pieces based on sourceless twitter rants that there are absolutely 0 defective Xboxes.
And here comes the truth/back in the real world:

https://www.gameinformer.com/b/news...efective-playstation-4-units-immediately.aspx
“We are aware that some people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and represent a very small percentage of total units shipped to consumers to date.”
Since the day of announce, the PS4 has been a big seller on Amazon with more units shipped on release day than any other video game console in our history. More than 99% of Amazon customers are having a great experience with their new console. We are working with Sony to assist the small percentage of customers who have reported issues and our customer service team stands ready to offer an exchange or where possible, help customers get their systems up and running.
