That won't end well.
I had a software issue once yesterday, it was a system software thing though and after that it worked just fine for the rest of the day, I shouldn't have said anything I don't want to jinx it lol.

I keep hearing that NBA 2K21 looks incredible on the new consoles! Please share some impressions of whatever you have a chance to play!

I haven't decided on pulling the trigger yet but it looked amazing from the trailer I saw a month ago or so. I will see later.

I did play some of Astro's Playroom and Days Gone from the PS Plus collection.

I love the new dual sense features and haptic feedback. Skating on ice, running while being pushed back by the winds, the different feedback you get from running on different terrains ALL feel different. I can't really explain it, you have to try it to feel the difference. Actually feels next-gen compared to what the DS4 did in terms of everything. I am actually pretty pleasantly surprised here for sure. I can't wait to see what first party exclusives will do here to immerse us even more in their future titles. I recommend trying the game out to see what they have improved on and what new features they have for the DualSense 5. I've only tried one level out so far but the game is a nice little throw in by Sony.

I downloaded Days Gone from PS Plus collection and booted it up after playing Astro's Playroom for a bit. Quick and easy, file size was only about 40GB or so. Runs butter smooth at 60FPS I'm assuming as it's definitely not 30FPS, no screen tears, did not feel any dips or anything during the first hour I've played with it. Even though I have never tried the PS4 version, I am willing to bet it feels and looks like a complete new game. I am also unsure if there were any performance issues for the PS4/Pro version. I haven't taken note of what they added with the boost features but it looks and feels great to me right now on the PS5.

I had a database build error soon after I booted up the PS5. I was in the PS store adding the PS Plus collection to my account so I could download later. I was downloading Days Gone at the time and when I tried to add another title to my account, I got the database error that told me to rebuild it. It took a few seconds and then after it's been working perfectly fine. I was able to add and queue downloads with no issues. Hopefully it's just a small hiccup that's gone forever now. I will continue to monitor, such a weird and random error.

My PS5 arrived today. Quick initial impressions:

1. It is big. Despite what others have said, its pretty tall standing vertically. Ironically the way I have this set up in my entertainment center it can stand vertically in my unit while the Series X cannot. This is due to the PS5 being considerably thinner while in the vertical position than the Series X. I could do some rearranging of my entertainment unit so both could stand but that's more work than I feel like putting in on a Friday night.

2. This is by far the BEST controller Sony has ever made. I'm not talking about the haptic or anything like that. The pure feel of the controller in my hand feel like something I could hold for hours. Every interation of the dual shock felt clumsy in my hands. The Dualsense? I don't even mind the thumb-stick placement on it which has long been an issue of mine with the Dual shocks.

3. The actual unit sticks out in my living room and entertainment unit like a sore thumb.... but its growing on me.

4. Subjectively the whole experience feels " next gen". The console and controler looks space age, the new UI is simple and slick. Not to knock the xbox experience cause they'll probably change their UI in the spring as is their custom, but out of the box this feels new vs what xbox is going for with familiarity.

Heard about that, strange thing to have happen but hopefully they'll get that fixed quick. I can forgive issues that can be fixed through a patch, when it's a hardware issue that means someone has to send a console in that's another story. So far so good for both next gen machines on that front, yeah a random person here and there is saying they have a dead console and that sucks but there are going to be faulty units there is just no getting around that.

Yeah the feel of the controller is great, it just feels like it's got a premium build to it and not a flimsy clicky thin layer of plastic. I do like how fast the UI is, the new screens come up fast and even with music playing it's all just seamless. It's still trippy how fast some of these games load compared to the last few gens, it's a nice thing to have to get used to though lol.

Gave my PS4 to a woman who was looking to replace the one her daughter had. Said her kid was upset because she couldn't play Fortnite. Put a ad on Craigslist for a low amount of 70. Sold it to her for 50 because she insisted after learning my intent was to give it away for free.

Outside of GT I play all my racing games on Xbox as that is my primary console, but with the new controller that may change. I'd love to put together a sim rig honestly but that can get expensive.

Controller is a improvement but way overrated.
Plus the sticks and top shoulder buttons seem to be the same.

But don't think I don't like it cause I do.

Yeah, I’ve only seen one tear down, they said the ducks are the same as the ps4, so the part numbers to replace them are the same. My only worry is the gears in the triggers, they remind me of the ones in my car seats, that would eventual go and be ones in the cheap we’re 35ish and oem ones were like 60. There were metal ones but they were like 130, but none of that includes the gear grease lol

Played some of Astro's Playroom. I came away pretty impressed with the haptic feedback in the controller and how it was used. I am VERY curious to see how Sony's 1st party and 3rd party exclusives end up using these mechanics. Because if used similarly to Astro's Playroom the effect is very immersive. I'm also quite sure if the haptics do get used in a regular basis, the battery life of these controllers may be in question sooner rather than later and with mechanical wear and tear on the controller may come into play. But this is still pretty cool tech they've managed to sneak into the controller.

I agree with the controller. By far Sony’s best controller. However, I ran a Miles marathon yesterday, with haptic at strong. After hours of use it ends up feeling like rumble with a spinning motor sensation. And then you could start to hear the motors spin like you have been running it too long. I am gonna change the feedback from strong to light.

I feel the rest of the controller has a better quality feel to it compared to the new Xbox controller. Like a score of 9.5 vs 9.0. There is something about the feel of the buttons and the inputs on the screen, especially the virtual keyboard, that feels good. I also think it’s the UIs audio feedback from entering text on the screen that gives it a luxury feel. Xbox is like tick tick when it audios typing.

I should add that the Elite 2 still smokes the DS5 :)

The shoulder buttons are quite a bit bigger, the sticks to me feel a little bit stiffer which I like but nothing dramatically different and that is one of those things that could vary slightly from controller to controller. The overall feel of the controller is much better than anything I've used in a long time, the grips are the perfect width and it just feels really solid. Also the battery life seems pretty good, compared to the DS4 anyway. I've played about 7 hours today and it's still showing two out of the three bars on the battery indicator on the dashboard.

I didn’t look at my battery life after my Miles marathon yesterday but I can tell you it lasted a lot longer than my DS4s ever did. And that’s with the motors spinning all the time.
The bumpers, triggers, and buttons as well as dpad are a substantial improvement.

You made that girl's day for sure. That was nice.

This is the type of crap I hate.
This scalper had all theses systems and wanted $1000 a piece for them. Meanwhile a lot of us gamers are screwed.
But Capitalism and stuff..
Lol, I guess you wouldn't have to worry about it without capitalism because it wouldn't exist. Good with the bad. Soon enough that ol capitalist system will flood those shelves again.

But hey, scarcity doesn't exist in other systems... right? We should ask Venezuela 😉

Dude is definitely a douche. I'd like to see stores be more restrictive on how many they sell to single buyers.

I didn't mean to make a political statement. Lol. No system is flawless.

A simple one per customer policy would solve a bunch of it. If people want to buy one and flip it, well you can't stop that, but you can stop people from selling tons of them.
