It's bad when you don't have a holiday lineup.
Hardware is going to sell itself through the holiday period and they've already released several cross gen as well as exclusive PS5 games.

Sony rarely has a big 1st party holiday line up, the PS4 gen saw most holidays without big titles they ended up launching from Feb to late Summer. Horizon ZD and Shadow of Colossus remake came out in Feb, God of war and Infamous and Bloodborne were all March, Days Gone April, UC4 May, TLOU2 June, Ghost of Tsushima July and Spider-Man which was early September which is still officially summer. I think the only holiday releases they had were GT sport in October and Killzone on launch day in November, the last guardian in December.

Yeah, it would have been nice if HFW could have made the Holidays. I think Sony is just going to rely on their already released exclusives, timed exclusives and 3rd party multiplatforms to push through the holiday months. Don't think it'd make that big of an impact on sales either way since demand is still strong and supply is constrained.

I don’t care if Sony is content with hardware sales without a holiday line up. I am a gamer. Give me games not hardware sales.

They'll still sell every PS5 they can ship, the holiday release date thing is a bit outdated, games can sell well anytime of the year.

Not entirely true, some games just get totally ignored if released on or after games like COD or Battlefield…. there’s been media outlets who’ve complained about launch windows with too many games at once.

when things return to “normal” they pubs/devs may go back to some of their old tactics

I listed a bunch of games from Sony for the PS4 that launched outside of the holiday window during that generation, the vast majority of 1st party games came out between Feb to Aug/Sep very few actually came out in Oct/Nov/Dec which is the holiday period. Even if games were originally planned for that window they were delayed etc and sold millions of copies in the spring and summer.

Would it have been better to run both without one of the blades on to see how the fans performed? Like does that new design blow out more at the same rpm?

I’m curious as to why they didn’t show the whole system under similar conditions as they’ve done in the past instead of just the exhaust vents

That's the thing, there's not enough info because we don't know the internal chip temperatures.

You tell any PC gamer your exhaust temperature is higher than mine therefore your cooling/temperatures are worse will just laugh in your face. We need to know the APU temperature in this case and that video didn't have the instruments necessary to measure it.

Copper is better but probably not needed, the launch models are filled with it and it was probably overkill. They wouldn't have made this change if they didn't think it would work lol. I love how so many people are taking a youtuber with an app on his phone as some kind of expert over the people who actually get paid to engineer these things, people who would lose their jobs if they cost the company the kind of money it would take to repair a bunch of units that overheated etc.

The concerns here will come to pass just like how blown out of proportion the initial concerns for the PS5 overheating because it's "overclocked" was at launch.

The XSX and XSS exhaustion temps are still higher than the new PS5's so does that mean the XSX/XSS are overheating?

If the heatsink is reduced in size by removing the copper components... common sense says it's inferior.

Yes but you can also see the heatsink and fins were redesigned and my guess is for better airflow out of the system. We will have to wait to see how much of a difference there is between the old and new model PS5.

Either way, my guess is the OG launch PS5's cooling system was overly sufficient enough that Sony decided to reduce the amount of copper in the new heatsink and still feel confident enough to ship it out to retail knowing it was still well within the operating ranges in regards to temperature.

Nothing to see it's worse.

I don't care what he claims.
The picture posted doesn't lie.

GamersNexus tests PC hardware for a living which includes heatsink coolers so I am inclined to at least have an open mind if he says something about it. In due time, we will see once more tests are out.

I've read several posts where people say the new design is better or at least more efficient at getting the warm air out faster, the original design may leave a pocket of warm air that takes longer to expel because of the physical design and layout. Either way neither one is going to overheat and the concern troll articles and posts everywhere are just ridiculous.

Perhaps the smaller heatsink expels the heat much faster. I know after changing the thermal paste on both my PS4 and Pro, the systems run much quieter and the air coming out of the back is so much hotter than before which = good. I don't think Sony is stupid enough to do something so drastic that would affect the console negatively and cause a potential major issue for them in the future.

Gamer Nexus said the PS5 is equivalent to a 1060.
He is nothing but a non trustworthy PC jackass who thinks he can compare PC to consoles and trolls Gigabyte.

Anybody with a pinch of knowledge on PC cooling knows that copper heatsinks with heat pipes are much better than aluminum ones.
