PS4 beating Xbox One on purchase interest worldwide

PS3 out sells the 360 year to year and will have more lifetime total sales then the 360.
That's what I said a year ago and that's still what I'm saying.

As of right now the PS3 does not have more sells than the 360...you were wrong the last 6 months with this crap....just like you where wrong with KZ being a 9 and you will be wrong here to as I truly believe you think this will be like the PS2 vs dreamcast all over....which is fukin stupid.

He didn't say it sold more....he said it "will have" sold more, and it will. PS3 now has sold about as much as the 360, and that's with having a full less year out. That means that in order for the PS3 to have caught up, it continues to world wide outsell the 360. Last gen is still in full swing, which means that pretty soon, the PS3 will outsell 360 in total sales.

Average gamer doesn't know all that kinect 2.0 has to offer....nor care. In the end, they will care more about gaming, and less about looking at HBO while waiting in a game lobby.

Very true. The snapping feature is cool tech, but how much it will be utilized is something to be seen.

I rarely used any of the Xbox 360 features outside of gaming and netflix. I don't use the media center to stream music, video or photos, I can just go to my computer and look at that stuff.

As for the other apps on the X360, I rarely ever used any of them, like Youtube, Facebook, etc, I just used my tablet or PC.

What you say though, I agree with. Being able to snap TV while waiting for a game lobby or snap back and forth between apps multi-tasking while waiting for a game invite isn't all that appealing.

Don't get me wrong, I think the XB1 features are extremely cool, but imo, and it's just that...my opinion, the features are just gimmics. I think in the end, people are just going to care about games.

Take the Wii as an example. It didn't sell as much as it did for it's wand....it sold as much as it did because it's very casual oriented, and there is a large casual crowd....especially one that loves the mario franchise.

LOL, I hated the Wii. I actually bought one when it got cheaper because I really missed playing Mario games and Zelda. When the damn games required me to use motion-tech and it wouldn't let me just use the classic controller, I regretted purchasing it entirely.

I think MSFT's mission though isn't to be the best gaming machine, it's to be the best entertainment device. They want to own the living room space. They want to beat out any other brand's TV device like Apple TV, or Smart TVs.

Home automation is cool, it's a luxury, but it's definitely not a need, it's more of a want, and to be honest, it's just laziness in some ways. People say they can't keep track of their remotes and controllers, so the voice control will be great?

When I come home from work and I want to play Xbox One...simply saying Xbox On isn't gonna turn on my TV, I still gotta do that. (edit, I'm seeing claims that the Xbox One turns on the TV as well with the Xbox On command?)

Okay so nevermind, it apparently does turn on everything. Cool I guess. It's gonna be one of those things I gotta try and see for myself.

Then what was your point exactly?

I said most gamers in the end will care about games...you asked how'd that work out for the Wii...worked out well for them, as the they had the games casual gamers loved.

I never said XB1 didn't have games...merely stating that in the end, gamers will flock to XB1 more for games, and less for gimmicky features.

This is what the metrics have been heavily suggesting for months. Any reasonable, logical, evidence based poster would know this. But every time I mentioned popularity metrics I've been mocked, insulted, dismissed, etc.

Xbox is not doomed at all, it's going to do ok at launch and get better with price cuts and more exclusives. It won't do PS4's numbers but there's no way it's going to be a failure. You can thank the "entitled whiners" for making MS 180 their DRM policies for that. I've said these things before but I'm sure someone will yet again falsely accuse me of having nothing positive to say.

Going by the majority of surveys that give PS4 a 2:1 lead, and 1 mil+ PS4s soldin NA, I'm guessing about ~500k xbox preorders in NA, not counting anyone buying both consoles. That's still a respectable number for a console launch. I wouldn't be surprised to see similar 2:1 sales ratios elsewhere, although it depends on available supply.

I'm sure some posters will try comparing PS4 NA sales to Xbox worldwide sales even though doing so is very inaccurate. Sony forecasted 5 million in sales worldwide by March 1, 2014, so we'll see what the worldwide numbers are at that point. All the "metrics" (the word certain posters here love to hate) indicate Xbox has less supply, so it should be easier to sell out at least.

Time to put that Reddit "confirmed dev" to the test: "When I saw reports of Sony having a million or 1.5 million pre-orders for the PS4, I didn't even think twice about it. We're not disclosing pre-order numbers at the moment for accounting reasons but I know for a fact we have just as many. Don't be bogged by published statistics."

Unless this guy is comparing PS4 NA preorders with Xbox worldwide preorders, it's hard to believe him.

I think Kinect 1.0 and Wii were fads, and casuals have moved on, or are still using their Wiis. Consumers don't seem interested in Kinect 2 at the moment (for various reasons), no matter how much posters here hype it up.

Back in the real world metrics/reality.

All it does is tell you what people yapping on social media are saying ... mostly ill-informed people, absorbing what other people are saying and repeating it ... a big echo chamber. It's a measure of popularity, but popularity doesn't equate to value or worth (not even to intent to purchase).

Personally I think it's a strange obsession, this preoccupation with which electronic device is more popular. It's such a high school way of looking at things, and it's not even about something significant like people; it's about two different versions of pretty much the same machine.

Eh. I'm getting too old for this stuff. :meh:

Some posters here are arguing against the metrics, and I'm posting what the metrics are. I'm sorry if posting facts and metrics upsets some.

I'm just bored with the popularity contest mentality. Call it metrics and reality and facts all you like -- makes it sound so very objective and scientific -- but all you're talking about is a mass of twittering opinions on social media sites about which of two electronic devices (that do pretty much the same thing) is more popular than the other. It reminds me of being in high school. Being popular isn't a reflection of quality or value or worth. It's just that -- a measure of how many people like you.

Ok. PS4 has more "likes" than X1. Yay? We win?

I don't know, I'm just burned out on the whole console war. I don't get it anymore.

I think it's more that some people seem to think that whichever console is winning the opinion of the "hardcore" in the months leading up to launch automatically determines the course of the entire generation. After all, Sony's missteps leading up to the PS3 launch torpedoed it, right? People trumpeting metrics at this point are essentially planning a championship parade because their team looked better in the layup line before game 1 tipped off.

If you would have said this in the first place we wouldn't have had to go through this.

I really don't care who "wins" since it doesn't put any money in my pocket, I just want them both to be successful enough to keep the industry healthy. I personally decided to only get one console this time around because last time I spent money on both consoles and one of them just sat there collecting dust 90% of the time, I just can't justify buying both this time around. I went with the one that gave me what I was interested in at a fair price and that's the PS4, if other people are interested in the X1's kinect features and go that route then I hope they enjoy their purchase.

I did.....

Getting "likes" on social media is equivalent to getting people to sign your year book in high school. No console wants to be THAT GUY with no signatures in his year book. Come on man, this is serious stuff.
