I just ordered one of these. I was looking for a good PS4 headset for a reasonable price.

$80, free shipping. Not bad. Anyone have them?

The white version looks nice, but it was $20 more.

They do take a little getting used to though...

i have the pulse elite set. it's great except for the headband is not padded enough, at all. the golds seem to have that sorted though.

btw did you get a ps4, anderson?

These look like they could be great but of course for $300 they better be pretty special lol.

I did indeed. I think I tried to add you, but I had some trouble. Are you still Joonlar?

Reads "virtual" so it's simulated.

That's fine with me, for my purposes. I think I'd want real 7.1, and be willing to pay for it, if I were an online FPS gamer, because you need to locate noises very quickly and accurately. But I'm not. I'm mostly an SP gamer, so virtual 7.1 is fine with me.

I keep my TV volume low, because I don't want to disturb others, but by doing that, I miss a lot of game audio. I needed a good pair of headphones.

I hear they sound pretty amazing. Don't make the same mistake as dstave and plug them into the controller though. When you do that it loses a lot of features

Also there is an app for it on ps4 where devs upload profiles that configure the headset to work best for their particular game. The last of us for instance

Oh, really? Thanks for letting me, know. I didn't realize that.

Cool, I'll look for that.

I have a pair. My thoughts:

First and foremost, VSS really sucks. I'm not sure if that's exclusive to this headset, as this is my first experience with the feature, It didn't offer any spatial awareness in BF; the only thing it added was a headache. Everything sounds pushed too far--highs are way too high, bordering on distortion.

To be sure it wasn't BF exclusive, I tried it with Zen Pinball and Injustice as well, and it had the same effect. Nothing clean about it.

Turning it off made a real difference. Much cleaner, more depth. The bass boost seemed necessary on the games I tried, though it muffled the sound of music too much on PS3, so I preferred it off.

Do they sound better than my 555s? No. My 555s are open, and there is this expansiveness to the sound I wasn't able to replicate on the Golds. Even music, which I feel seems a bit flat on the 555s compared to games and movies, was still superior than the Golds.

However. I thought the Golds sounded just fine while playing games with VSS off, and bass boost on. Plus, they're wireless, which is what I need, since I can only enjoy my 555s late in the evening, since I have to move a chair close to my receiver. I need something wireless for the couch. The fact they double as a headset is a real bonus.

And when did you get a PS4?

I mean I have a pair of 598s and a pair of Ultrasone HFI-780s. Also once had a pair of ATH-M50s. But these have a microphone in them, which is what I wanted.

Consoles I just use 5.1 but for PC gaming I have a nice pair of Audio Technicas.

Friday. Gamestop was giving $150 credit for old PS3's, so I figured now was the time. I was waiting for E3 before I jumped, to make sure.

I'll try it with & without the VSS, thanks for the feedback.

I picked it based on a PSU thread, where it seemed to be the favorite, at least in the modest price range. I saw that it got a lot of good reviews at amazon, too, which was reassuring.

After I realized that my problem with them was just a screw up by me, I have been loving them. Haven't downloaded the audio companion app yet though.

What was your "screw up"? Plugging it into the controller? Or something else?

Just like almost all other headsets are. The Razor Tiamat are the only real surround sound headsets I know of. Even those are not great because you can not truly replicate surround so close to your ears, and 10 small individual speakers often doesn't sound as good as two high quality larger ones. So it comes down to the quality of the simulated 7.1 that different headsets offer.

I got a damn av system for a reason sony. I don't want no damn headphones. Sony needs to get a damn blue tooth on ps4 already the fact it's not is BS.

The little headset the ps4 came with is pure BS.

The little headset that came with the console works just fine for me, I've only used it a few times but I hear everyone clearly.

Bonus tip...the companion app is vital...not only do you get sound modes designed for the newest releases, You can also config your own custom settings to your liking.

Crank up the bass level and have a go at Resogun....core blimey!

I hate and I mean hate pushing them damn little mini headphone things into your ear. No idea how people stand that myself. When playing on-line it would also just keep falling out of my ear.

Ah if that happened to me I'd be annoyed too, mine fits perfectly in my ear.

That sounds important. Thanks for the tip. Where do I find this app?
