PS4 Indie Game Thread

Hm. Looks interesting and creepy.

Here's some gameplay of Basement Crawl. Looks pretty hectic when you get to the middle...

Lost interest. I thought it might look similar to the trailer. Instead it's some top-down whachamacallit. Meh.

It's a Bomberman clone, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but this happens to be a poorly done one.

Child of Light

A whimsical, artsy mix of platforming, exploration, and turn-based RPG, developed by Ubisoft.

looks very similar to this game (the picture is called "hidden utopia"). might have to pick it up for this reason alone..

Man I was watching Outlast on Twitch tonight. I really want this game on PS4 Now.

I could get it on PC. But I want in on PS4 damn it.
Dumb question, isn't Outlast also available on xbox one?

Yeah, beautiful shots. The first one is definitely from Child of Light. I don't know about the second, though.

Nope. But I wouldn't doubt if it and the next episode come to X1 eventually.

You don't have a PS4? I thought you did. Today's the last day to get Outlast before Dead Nation comes out tomorrow for March PS+.

Oh heck yeah I have one. Launch day pre order.

I just got impatient and got Outlast for $6 on Steam when I could have waited for the PS+ version. I actually downloaded the game anyway on PS4.

Oh haha. Yeah, it's a good game, scary the first time through.

Weird. I'm trying to figure out how, if you're the noodle, all those other shapes and creatures fit into the game, which allegedly is not a game really. It looks creative and whimsical, which is good. I would have to play a demo to know whether it'll be entertaining for a few minutes or a few hours.

Yeah, I think the beauty of the game will be in experimentation. I will probably love it, but then again I am a bit of an indie freak. Kind of reminds me of playing as a sperm on an acid trip.

Here's a Gamespot Let's Play of Hohokum. I'm still scratching my head, but I think I "get it" a little more than I did before. I like what he said about Sony's openness to these sorts of artsy, creative games (e.g., Journey, Flower, Unfinished Swan). I like that they seem to go after those types of games/companies in particular and try to help them realize their vision.

Anyhow, here's the demonstration. It takes him a while before he starts to actually explain things, so you've got to be a little patient.

Helldivers is looking like a lot of fun.

Ohh man, this is first I'm seeing of this and it looks really cool. I love twin stick shooters.

Freakn' Sony locking down all the indie games like its nobody's business. With so many there are bound to be some gems among the bunch. Galak-Z is still my most anticipated indie game but now Helldivers is on my radar.

The illegitimate and odd child of Angry Birds and Peggle drops tomorrow and it's all tongue.

Here's an indication that Dreamfall Chapters may be coming to the PS4. It is already coming to the Wii U, and the developers have talked about wanting to bring it to other consoles, though they haven't announced anything yet. Here they talk here about how Sony has been pro-active and accommodating:

I'd love for that to happen. I really enjoyed Dreamfall: The Longest Journey on the original Xbox. This is the Kickstarter-based sequel and end of the trilogy.

The original Longest Journey is one of the best Adventure game in history. I never played the sequel though.

I still so hope the first and second Journey games get ported as well. I don't know if these games can still run on modern hardware, and I've always been interested.

Hohokum dated for August 12th.

I'd suggest starting this around 1:45 or so. It's a slow start.
