You took out a part I pointed to

Electronics Boutique and other retailers sold them at those higher prices brand new at launch, N64 games didn't really have a standard price often it changed on a per title basis because the amount of storage in the cartridges was different. When I got Ocarina of time I got the gold pre order version and that was $75.00
Never saw anything like that locally. I didn't buy many (less than 20) and most of them were 1st party games. I remember paying $60 for DK64 with the ram pak thingy, and that was the most expensive game I ever bought for it.

For Marvel’s Spider-Man, which is the ultimate edition that includes the new Miles Morales expansion we are looking at 105 GB as a minimum requirement. To compare, the original PS4 release weights roughly 62GB and adding the three DLC that released, we are sitting at a total close to 70GB on PS4. Mind you that this is the MINIMUM REQUIREMENT per Sony wording, which in truth doesn’t always equal to the actual release size. An example of this would be The Last of Us Part 2 saying it requires a minimum of 90GB, when in reality the final download size was only 76GB. Chances are that requirement is needed so the system has space to do unpacking.

....Or maybe the majority just prefer physical over digital and thus based on those figures were more physical SKUs manufactured over the digital edition. Why do I say that? The PS4 didn't have a digital SKU nor did the PS3. So to assume that that market is completely ready for an all digital SKU at the same rate as a physical would could mean fewer sales.

From my position, i can tell you that although the digital SKU is cheaper, Internet connections are not reliable enough to the point where i feel like I can trust them 100%.

Or maybe they made such a small allotment of the digital edition because they really are losing more money on it, than the regular PS5, and they simply needed a box that they could say was cheaper than the Series X.

Just because the physical version is more desired than the digital doesn't mean the market isn't ready for a digital version.

And where are you living that you don't trust your internet connection? I could see if you had data caps or low speeds but the actual connection?

That line of thought makes no sense, they will make a lot more money off of the digital consoles than the standard models, all games sold through PSN, no used games to compete with etc. They aren't doing 50/50 I'm sure but people thinking they are only doing between 1%-10% are crazy. As I said the store I went to had more digital units than physical and more people wanted physical so they were having to either take the digital or not pre-order, I was 8th in line and they had around 20 total available to pre-order and they were out of physical units before I got to the front of the line. I'm sure retailers are pushing for more standard models, digital consoles don't make retailers any money.

That would be your assumption since you're not the one manufacturing the system, when what is being said of this are the facts. In addition to that, for the physical model to even hit $500 it would have to be selling at a profit. Remember, you can't be losing money on two SKUs. On top of that, the manufacturing cost is stated to be about $450. It could be slightly below this but I'm thinking it's slightly about ($460). By Sony removing the Ultra Blu Ray drive, that probably shaved off 35 to 40 dollars not including licensing fees and things. On digital software, the profit is much higher than the disc version

When you are talking about a first party title like Spider-Man, Sony are likely to get most of that profit by it being all digital. You subtract that from the small amount Sony was losing on the SKU and you start to bring in a profit IF the SKU didn't already break even with the first part above.

Regarding internet services, now you just sound like you're dictating. If everything is achieved via download, at some point you're going to run into an issue, whether that be weather related, file size, or just downtime from that provider. I've experienced them all, some right in the middle of a download. In addition to this, I've lost digital only media due to an outage and wasn't able to retrieve it. But that's all beside the point, when you are talking on a grand scale, digital SKUs were manufactured based on demand when moving from physical media to strictly digital. If more people demand it, more will be manufactured. A cap wasn't placed on it to where only a small amount will only ever be manufactured.

I thought it was a full game, not an expansion

You’ll experience a full story arc with Miles, one that’s more akin to a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of overall scope. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an important, heartfelt, emotional and essential experience to expanding the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. And we hope it will be for you as well.

It seems people are just giving their own interpretation of it.

I like how they leave out that it's the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition that will be taking up a lot of space and includes the remastered PS4 game with a bunch of new assets and 3 DLC expansions in that tweet. RDR2 on PS4 is as big as the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, we've had games over 100GB in size this gen, storage is going to be an issue next gen for both consoles, people are going to have to be happy with 12-15 games on their SSD's at a time and invest in external storage or spend a good chunk of change on expanded playable SSD storage with the Series X plug and play SSD rumored to be over $200 for 1TB or larger replacement internal SSD's for the PS5 which will likely cost as much as the console for anything over 2TB.

from the pic alone that looks fake af 🤮looks like it was just sprayed on, there’s no evenness to the paint.

There’s a softness to the black on the real one and looks luxurious and futuristic.

That one just looks like someone gave it a few coats of plastidip and never stopped between coats :(

A thumbnail bar for games at the bottom
The selected game reveals a panel of content icons
- the first panel has a quick menu, which would feature elements common to across games...party setup, playtime tracking, restart buttons etc.
- the rest of the panels are in-game events, missions, hints, video content from the game etc. etc. These are context aware and custom for each user. So if you just finished mission 9, a mission panel for mission 10 would show up, the hint panel might show hints for that next mission etc.
Scrolling over content panel icons highlights friends that were active in that content - so if one of the icons is for a specific mission and a friend has been playing, it'll highlight their icon, and you can tap through to see more info on that activity
There's talk about a dynamic 'waves' background with particle effects etc. The waves and particle effects can respond to focus/highlight certain things going on, undulate high or low.
When you're not focused on game content panels, friends are up at the top of the screen, along with the usual icons (messages etc). A group of 'close' friends can have their thumbnails highlighted, with the rest of your friends behind the normal friends/message icons.
Friend thumbnails can be augmented with indicators around their activity - e.g. if they're livestreaming, or starting an event, or if they just messaged you or whatever. When something like that happens, the icon can be highlighted momentarily. Popping friend

Again that other site was claiming 1% which is total bulls***, nobody said it was going to be 50/50 but making it sound like a first batch of consoles made available for pre-order proves anything is still dumb and these are all brick and mortar retailers who are going to want to sell disc based consoles because digital does nothing for them after the initial purchase, we need to see what the breakdown is for amazon and other online retailers.

Again my store is a high volume store in an LA suburb and for some reason they had more digital than physical, this is listing percentages when each story probably had fewer than 20 consoles to begin with. Wait until November when more have been made available and see where it is, it likely will still be skewed a bit towards the disc based consoles but I'd be shocked if it stayed at these levels.

I'm gonna get the hate for this, but...

If they had any must have launch games, they probably wouldn't be doing that.

It's an insane deal for newcomers, but most of us who've been PS4 owners for most of the console's lifespan already have played most of those games.

I’ve only played seven of them, and only completed two of them...will probably stay that way lol maybe
