didn’t Sony say there won’t be any enhancements to BC games?

Oh that... There will be a slight boost but not anything significant.

I guess it will perform similar to the Pro. I remember coming across this awhile back. I didn't give it much thought then, but I guess it's relevant. But because Sony are primarily focused on next-gen experiences, i guess it makes sense.

Is that article suggesting that the next Sony VR HMD will be wireless? Or at least very minimal cables.

Some of the things they want to see, yes. They also want a wider FOV, too. But, these are obvious demands for the HMD, though. I'm expecting them to come out of left field with something we hadn't yet thought about or put much thought into.

While the no loading times sound quite the fun factor already, the new DualSense Controller also offers quite the immersive experience for the players. Changing shooting styles in the middle of the quick-paced gameplay is done easier with the controller’s adaptive trigger. Also with the haptic feedback, they can feel their way through their arsenal while the alien horde swarms them.

The 3D audio of Returnal will be a new sensation for veterans of shooter games. This might be a third-person shooter, but with the new 3D audio, players will have a new sense of positional awareness. They can hear aliens coming from behind, around, and above them.

but I wonder what till it’ll have on the battery life? Bet esport players will turn haptics/rumble off.

Sony is increasing the battery life because that was a major issue with the DualShock 4.

As far as haptics, this is just some of the ways it'll be used in standard gameplay. Using it in VR is where it'll really shine. It'll be the same as the light bar on the DualShock 4; it works for the standard experience, but it works even better in the VR experience as you have tempist, haptics, and adaptive triggers working in conjunction to VR. So it is designed where it can exist seamlessly in both worlds - one being vastly more immersive than the other. :)

Shawn Jelsic what department of Sony PR are you working for? Honestly, no diss, but you're prob the best spinner I've ever come across on an unofficial forum.

It is only considered a spin as long as the situation isn't viewed completely lopsided to the other. When in actuality, it is due to a lack of information withheld from those conversations. 😉

hmmm, interesting latter bit... thing we’ll get another ps event in august to showcase psvr/move stuff?
So why does he say '120fps option on the Series X'? Wouldn't he just say 120fps option on next gen?

Considering the massive turnaround at Naughty Dog, itll be interesting where that talent gets snatched up. Still, Sony has the cinematic game on lock down. Interesting times ahead

That studio always has had a lot of turnaround though.

I would say better devs BUT Sony PS devs don't focus on performance as good as MS XB devs do.

That's because most of MS games have some type of MP element to them and Sony's doesn't tend to focus on that as much. Halo used to be 30fps and 60fps for the MP and they changed it to 60 for both and that really hurt the visuals in the single player IMO, same with Gears 5, the SP portion was nowhere near as good looking as some xbox fans tried to make people believe.

That's inexcusable.

Sony never made an announcement one way or the other that's DF's interpretation of what is going to happen. I agree with them but there is no official word yet other than Cerny saying that their will be a PS5 boost mode and that may help some BC games perform better or run at higher resolutions. That doesn't mean some games won't get extra love but I don't think Sony is really focused on that too much.

Remember this is just going to be PS4 BC it's not going to be doing PS1-PS3 so there really isn't going to be much improvement needed anyway.

Well, i already expected Sony to fire back. I mean, it's obvious they didn't reveal everything or even close to it during their first showing. There are still basic things about the platform that we don't even know about yet, let alone a lot of the internal studios working in projects and their second party.

I played the whole thing I'm speaking from experience, the character models are average, the open area is basically dead with nothing going on, the trees look like that fake COD style stuff. I think Gears 4 looked better and had more impressive moments. Gears is always hyped as a graphical showcase based on it's 360 days, back then it was by far the best looking xbox exclusive, the jump to 60fps for single player with Gears 5 not only lowered the native res which is fine with me but the graphics were just fine not great. The best looking area was that indoor hangar style building.
