Official Thread Rainbow Six | Siege

They finally sent my code tonight, a day after everyone else, but okay.

So what don't you like about it?

I was going to say the Class-based system, but it's beginning to grow on me. I just don't like how you need to be out of a game to unlock a character and to unlock attachments. The same applies to modifying your weapons. There's no reason why we shouldn't have the freedom to do all of the above during a match.

The gameplay is similar to R6: Vegas sans the third person cover system. Players can absorb many bullets like a sponge before dying. I suppose that could be fix depending how long Ubisoft plans to support this game when it's officially out. Given their horrible track record of supporting games, I won't hold my breath.

That's off the top of my head right now. I just had a long gaming session.

Game is great. Here's why:

1. It's not a run-and-gun game. As a defender, you'll mostly turtle up after preparing your defenses. You won't be able to create an impenetrable fortress, so you HAVE to have a Plan B and Plan C when things don't go according to plan. As an attacker, you have to clear rooms knowing that you're walking into a death trap.

2. Quick matches. Things usually happen very swiftly. I don't see any bullet sponging action. Kills are quick, unless players are armored up, then they can absorb more bullets.

3. The dead can speak. OK, this is major cheeseballs, but your dead teammates can talk to the living teammates. The dead have access to player views (first-person) as well as any active cameras (surveillance or drones). Like I said, cheesy, but it keeps the dead players continuously invovled in the game.

4. Awesome abilities. The Operators each have a special ability or equipment. Let me tell you, there's nothing more satisfying than killing a couple of dudes with a cluster bomb - through a wall.

5. Entries and Destructibility. Attackers can enter through any window, and blow through many walls (these walls can be fortified, but then again, can be ripped through by a special Operator). This adds a level of unpredictability, uncertainty, and tension that does not exist in other games.

6. Teamwork wins almost every time. When your team communicates, plans, and works together, you WILL win. Once you find a solid team, you love them FOREVER.

Okay, I know this shouldn't bug me, but when you look at your weapons it gives you a round count, but it lists it as "clip" size. How am I supposed to take this game serious as a tactical shooter when they don't even know the difference between a magazine and a clip?

I haven't seen the weapon list for this game, but I'm willing to bet they're is not a single gun in the that uses "clips"

Guys, there is a phrase in the improv comedy community called "Yes and..." It's purpose is to teach newcomers to the scene how to approach improv situations. I want you to think about this phrase and consider using it in this here discussion forum.

What is awesome about the game?
What don't you like about the game?

We don't expect a ten page review of the beta but one additional sentence explaining why you feel the way you do can go a long way. Just consider it.
What is your gamer tag?

Got the code last night but took forever to download. Might give it a shot tonight but not expecting much. And I'm with Almighty_bob if this game calls them clips. ffs

The game is really growing on me. It is fairly well balanced outside of maybe the Shields. COD players will hate how slow it is but should be slow. Sounds design is great too.

Downside is it doesn't exactly look good graphically and the matchmaking/servers currently are pretty bad.

So I've had the opportunity to play 5 or 6 games, all TDM - Bomb. Honestly, it feels very classic R6 to me, both in terms of movement and gunplay. I do think rappelling could use a little work in regards to control. Having a team that communicates makes all the difference in the world in this game. My matches have been split with half having no one using their mics and the other half with every teammate talking and strategizing.

I like how you can unlock upgrades for your operators and their stuff as you play, allowing you to tweak things a little more to your liking. I also like how the game seems to define attackers and defenders pretty well. There is a nice sort of decision making that happens during the start of the match, especially for defenders, when you have to choose where and how you are going to defend. Ultimately, the round can come down to a couple of key choices made on either side. As defenders, it becomes important to choose how you want to barricade things and try to get the attackers to flow through the building. As attackers, you have to weigh the expediency of your objective against taking your time and disrupting the defenders plans.

The game seems to run really, really well. Everything seemed very responsive on my end, and I didn't have any times when I felt I shouldn't have died. Using level layout to your advantage is interesting, such as making small holes in walls and floors to create vantage points.

I haven't had the opportunity to try Terrorist Hunt yet, but I'll give that a go this weekend.

Tried out Terrorist Hunt for the first time. I loved it! This mode has restored my faith in the game. You have to be very cautious in your approach and expect the unexpected. You can walk in a room full of explosives with an AI waiting to detonate. I made the mistake by rushing in one of these rooms. There are also some booby traps. You have AI strapped with explosives around their bodies-- There's diversity with AI-- Some will rush you, some will wait for you, some will flank you. I recommend playing on Realistic for the ultimate experience. Anything less is too easy.

Played a round of terrorist hunt as a frenchy. ehhh. I'll only parrot what everyone else says on the graphics. The exact words of my brother were "these graphics suck so much ass" He has a colorful vocabulary.

Don't think it's my kinda game, in any case.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like enemy AI spawn behind you sometimes in Terrorist Hunt. This was a major issue in R6 Vegas that was never fixed on PC.

Tried 10+ times to play today. No connections.
It sucks because I want to play more. I enjoy the slow pace and planning. Even playing solo you have to think two steps ahead.

Update: Okay after playing for about two hours, I've been kicked out of about about half of the game's I get into.

Being unable to modify my load out between matches is dumb.

There's a good Rainbow Six game here, but you really need at least two friends on voice comms to make this game shine. There's a lot of potential for serious tactics and silly (but plausible) tactics in PvP. But I feel like the spawns in terrorist hunt need tweaking, if you attempt to take a bit of time to prepare before entering the terrorists will spawn/rush outside and flank, which kinda forces you to rush a bit. Maybe I just need to get to grips with it a bit though. Also those suicide dudes are... something. Not sure what I make of those in a Rainbow Six game.

There is definitely a good Rainbow Six game here, but I do have one major complaint and that is the menu system. Some of the problems are likely the beta servers making it slow, but the menus are just bleh overall. Can't buy operators in match, can't customise your weapons in match, the time between menu screens is too slow and the time between matches is too slow. For a game built around the one life mechanic, you really don't want to delay players getting back into the game and right now you spend far more time in the menus than in the game, especially in PvP. Also the server stability in general is pretty trash at the moment as I think everybody is aware.

Odd. I usually have good luck getting in these things. No luck. Anyone know way to get a code? For xbox.

Beta's not bad. Played a few matches of Terrorist Hunt. I kept getting kicked out toward the end due to " Slow connection ". But what I did play was fun.

Goddammit Terrorist Hunt on Realistic is fun and intense but the AI can be straight up stupid. I often find enemies facing corners after I kill their friend. On the other hand they will hunt you down and flank your ass. But I think I'll pass on this because I can't stand being killed and forced to just sit and watch the rest of a game with nothing to do. We should at least be able to modify our load out or something.

I know how you feel. It seems like the AI spawns behind you at certain points in the game, for example, the roof. Every time I am camping on the roof to clear out a room on the 2nd floor, the AI magically appears near the spawn area and kills me from behind. My biggest issue with this game is not being able to modify anything in game. Needless to say, I've never been a fan of a match-making system. I prefer a server browser with dedicated servers.

Not feeling this game at all. Kind of relieved actually as there are way to many games coming out, and it feels good to scratch one off the buy list.
