That is still what its about though as he didn't like them doing that at all with other movies even though his movie bombing is what set it all off.

Two things here:
1. The Marvel movies for the most part are pretty cut and paste. They have a formula, and don't get too far away from that. This isn't a bad thing.
2. The Marvel movies are still a very enjoyable experience.
They are not mutually exclusive. I think it'd be pretty dumb to disagree with Villenueve here
She is mostly right but also not very knowledgeable. Why is she blaming JJ Abrams for The Last Jedi?
And killing Han Solo is the least of any of these movies problems

To be fair, she is the one that notoriously SAVED OG Star Wars in 1977, by completely re-editing the movie before release. Allegedly, it was completely unwatchable before she came in to clean house, confirmed by multiple sources. It's fairly safe to say that we might not have had any sequels at all, if not for her.
If Star Wars 77 [ANH] and ESB are unwatchable, then everything SW is... Those 2 movies literally changed cinema forever. From SFX [ILM] to sound design [Ben Burtt]. There's a 100% distinct line for movie audio and SFX that's before and after SW... and for years, it was only because another studio hired ILM and/or Skywalker Sound. ESB is also my favorite movie of all time.
There are too many problems to name them all, I know a big one with me is the fact that they actually started production on the first movie without an outline for the entire trilogy, that should be a fireable offense on it's own. Yeah the tacky "the force is female" and "I don't need to cater to male fans" is already off putting in many ways and made her look very arrogant and even clueless, especially after we found out how she was running things.
