One thing I'm seeing already in which I grew increasingly annoyed by was characters and environments looking like plastic cut outs. Next gen is already showing that small disturbance is over. I'm so friggin' glad. I don't know how much longer I could bare looking at another character that looked like something out of a wax museum with a pulse. Just terrible...

Yeah that bugs me too and how a lot of the games environments looks all glossy and wet. I remember firing up Perfect Dark Zero for the first time and everything was like that. Sunny day in the jungle but everything's soaked and shiny and wha'd the bad guys hose down the base in hopes that I'd slip and fall to my death?

When I see\hear the word "powerr!" I instantly think of jeremy clarkson burning rubber on the test track..

I would like to see more done in the AI dept. We get prettier visuals with every new gen but the AI has remained pretty bog standard. On a less technical note I would like to see hand holding go away or at least have a difficulty level so there isn't any assistance. Splintercell BL on "perfectionist" is a good example of how to make a game appeal to the mainstream crowd without pissing off the core fanbase. It made the game so much better for me.

Cloud may actually be able to help as far as the A.I. deal goes. In fact, I'm counting on it. This may be too far of a stretch but hopefully we'll be able to speak with NPC's via Kinect with the characters having a huge data base of the English language to converse with. When that happens, thats a whole other level.

Looking forward to when I eventually get AC4 to see just how awesome the enemy characters look while they stand around waiting for their turn to be the one person who attacks. :smash:

It would be nice to have the cloud doing more with the AI but it's going to be 2 years before we start seeing devs utilize the cloud.

I'll just leave this here:

I really hope someone creates a proper Aliens game with the new consoles mate. The latest was a HUGE disappointment for me. Use the added power to fix just about EVERYTHING about the game and utilize Smart Glass and Kinect too. So disappointing that game was. Took it back almost the next day...

Speaking strictly from a sports gaming standpoint I would hope more power would lead to more intelligent (life-like) AI. Sports games truly suffer by having AI that never really acts unpredictable which leads to user exploitation of set patterns and suspends belief with regularity of outcomes.

Oh hell yes...

I was really expecting them to announce this or a "better frame rate and resolution" version of H4 available at X1's launch.

I would LOVE this, the Xbox One is going to come out and I won't be playing Halo for about a year, I have no intention on leaving my 360 connected, this would be music to my ears!!!!......won't happen though :smash:

I'm no so much concerned with visuals, current gen games look good already in HD, and surely moving forward with more "power" games will look even better. Visuals are the most basic and noticeble jump.

What I want is more realistic animations and character movement, real time physics based character movement. I'm tired of canned mo-cApped and scripted animations. I want characters to move and behave much more realistically based on real time physics.

Physics also play a big part in created worlds and environments, and destruction etc.

Lastly, I'd love to see a big jump in AI. More intelligence and behaviors of all characters and enemies in games.

I love great graphics, but I want the players and characters to move, animate and think and react in a much more real way. It's time for scripted animations to end and have real time physics based player movement.

Games to stick closer to books for story telling rather than Hollywood etc...

Film genre is the wrong path to take for the story, look at how many movies got fudged and did not stick to their book roots.

I want more games like Chromehounds, and to a lesser extent Battlefront. Persistent online wars. With high player counts. I cant believe more games haven't done this. A high profile FPS or TPS title with persistent online wars would sell like hot cakes.

Wouldn't make much sense for them given the games population decline.

I'm sure we'll see more stuff like that next gen.

Planetside 2, is one game.. But if I were making that kind of game, I would have more factions., and initiate a forced endgame. With a day or two pause between each season.
i.e. a overall warwich lasted 3 months, then it were all summed up, and all stuff were resets and winners and loosers announced, and placed in a hall of fame.
After that everyone could restart from scratch, and research new weapons, form new alliances and different types of alliances, new wars, supply raids, etc. :)

i.e. I would have the players work harder to get resources for new weaponry and ammo, and track all that serverside, before summoning up a winner after 3 months or so, and restart everything after that. :)

That's GREAT news for PS4 players.
I've heard my share of CoD lobbies on 360, and let me tell you - dregs of the earth, detritus at the bottom of FPS games, worst community ever.
Now all the dudebro douche-bags will be more likely to play CoD on the Xbox platform.
And that is MUCH appreciated.

PS4 is looking more attractive all the time.
Thanks MS!

This post reeks of defensive butthurt.

Borderlands 3,but more like 1, just with DLC's included from the start. I'd also take another Too Human, I loved that game, just too short. Improved visuals and AI would be icing on the cake.

I hope the next level of wrpg and action game kills off the jrpg for good. The jrpg has been a blight on the term RPG for too long.

I also hope we finally achieve 100% perfection in skipping all cut scenes. They can be seguay, but no more ooc plot development.

Interesting. Especially seeing as how both film and video games are so closely related-in fact more so than any other forms of expression. Translating storytelling in video games to something closer to books can't happen mate. Video games are mostly visual, therefore they require a more visual type of formatting and structuring versus books or novels where there are just too many variables and rules that simply don't allow a comprehensive transfer. This is not my opinion on the matter, It's fact, based off of real world experience. Trust me mate...

It's good to have some RPG's wich require more strategy than point at monster and click in combat.
If that's not something you can deal with, just don't buy it. Don't complain about having variation..
Sure, more people enjoy Skyrim than Persona or Ni No Kune, but choosing between both are better than one.

When i hear the word power i think of the Xbox One. With the power of the cloud the sky's the limit for what Microsoft can do. I'm expecting the most stunning games we've ever played this generation.

When I think of power I think of catchy chip names like cell or the emotion engine. That is the power of marketing 101.

I wouldn't like for jrpgs to be killed off by western rpgs but I'd like to see more combination rpgs or jawsrpgs :D.

I havent been able to get into an RPG is quite some time. Mostly sports and action/shooters. Well aside from Skyrim in which I'm still hoping we get a proper sequel to the last one. Not feeling the MMO at the moment. It looks like current gen right now and it doesnt look like its going to change much either.

Yeah, Im not really feeling ES: Online either. The graphics are horrible, then you have to pay a subscription fee on top of that.

I've never played an MMO and never will. Just about all of them have that gimped cartoony kind of look. ES: Online is grittier but not as good looking as Skyrim (a game that came out 2 years ago). Also, no way I'm paying $10-15/mth to play a game. And that's assuming the game is free but gets revenue from fees. If not, then you have to tack on another $60 for it too. Lots of other good games out there. No thanks.

The last MMO I were really into, were City of Heros/Villains, I played that pretty much nonstop for three-four years.
My favourite characther were a scrapper called 'Demonica Lewinsky' wich were a superhot demonic version of Monica Lewinsky, wich ejected poisounous spikes. ARStechnica, had a good community for that game. :)

After that I've allways only played MMO's a few days, before going to something else.
I don't plan on trying anything MMO'ish for a while, except for War Thunder, that looked really cool on Giant Bombs quicklook.
