Some random YouTuber? No thanks
He breaks it down ways that DF YouTuber
Can only dream of.
People been ripping him anyway and I guess you are playing a blind eye(and ear)
Not reading what jinca posted above either lol

I posted the thread on the significance of the PS5's SSD and the problems it gives ports before the PS5's specs were even released.

When PS5 has the best looking games I can't wait for the spins!
Gonna be some funny times!

I replied to Jinca with the DF guys reply, do try and keep up. Seems the dev that Tweeted got confused what the DF guy was talking about. Random YouTube guy over DF? Lol. We’ll be calling you misterSseries if you keep this up.

"The SX has 2.5 GB reserved for system functions and we don't know how much the PS5 reserves for that similar functionality but it doesn't matter - the Xbox SX either has only 7.5 GB of interleaved memory operating at 560 GB/s for game utilisation before it has to start "lowering" the effective bandwidth of the memory below that of the PS5... or the SX has an averaged mixed memory bandwidth that is always below that of the baseline PS4. Either option puts the SX at a disadvantage to the PS5 for more memory intensive games and the latter puts it at a disadvantage all of the time"

Stop, girlfriend, the Digital Foundry article says flat out that the 2.5 GB reservation comes from the slower RAM pool, full stop. The article you're quoting doesn't even seen to understand that, and comes up with something on the lines of "Either the moon is made of cheese or Microsoft couldn't turn it into pepperoni, either way Sony wins." Or, in terms you'd understand,

DF the people who got the XSX scoop and don't acknowledge the weakness of XSX.
I luv watching them get ripped.

Can't waiiiiiit for the spins when PS5 has better looking games.

Here is his reply

am not sure why he thinks I am talking about run time procedural texturing, as I am not wanting to talk about that? So I am not sure why he thinks I am? Perhaps I wrote it in a way where he thinks it is?

My point is (I guess no one understands it still with the way I wrote it here on ResetEra, oddly enough it seems it was understood on Beyond3D?):

Imagine you have 2 ways to prepare a texture. One in which it is a completely bespoke 4k texture baked out from a high res model. Then you have another way where it has a lower base resolution (1024) and its detail is then made up by stamped or instanced trims, decals, shared repeating detail textures. The latter is the direction modern game dev has gone, and most especially modern open world development since you are sharing much of the detail layering between objects.

The first requires a lot more space on the disk and indeed in VRAM. It represents the idea of every object being wholly bespoke, unique, and static in memory as that asset. The other type of texturing system is smaller in VRAM and on Disk, and it also requires less artist time since you are not remaking an entire asset to create variation, rather you are changing decals, trims, base colour, etc. at run time in editor (as was shown to DF by Cloud Imperium Games, id, and I am very sure many other game studios have switched over to this method of detail creation). I called the later procedural, as I understand it as that. Not procedural as in "the GPU is generating textures".

The idea that an open world game would want fully bespoke completely unique details enabled by something like, textures, and therefore need to swap out huge swathes of (texture) data as you merely turn the camera about is anti-thetical to how asset reuse (trims, decals, tiling detail textures) is integral to making modern games with large scales where they cannot spend the time to make fully bespoke textures. It is also very confusing to imagine you would need to need to flush such large amounts GPU memory when turning the camera in such a game (even one with very unique textures per asset), considering you are only going to be seeing mip 0 very close to the camera. You would be swapping only a number of extremely large textures in reality, and further mid distance and far detail would perhaps not be swapping at all, or would be swapping mid chain low res mips. Why? To prevent aliasing, of course, which is why we use mipmaps as well.

I've seen that reply but I'm not taking his word over people who actually make games and even create systems for games to run on like that dev who tweeted does.

Due to the architecture of the PS5 it can do games that aren't possible on XSX.
XSX cannot match this.

I suggest actually listening to the unbiased people explaining this.

It has more compute units...so objectively on PAPER it is more powerful no matter how slight you think it is.

Remember.

12 > 10.

Not

12 = 10

OR

12 >= 10

12 is greater. Period. It can never be equal.
I feel like I'm in a programming class again lol.

Computationally XSX can do more general purpose processing. That is factual unless you want to tell me 10 is somehow a bigger number.

You also said this when we were talking about the difference in performance between GCN and Navi.

Vega 64 12.66 tflops
RX 5700 XT 9.75 teraflops
RX 5700 XT is 9% faster

Vega 56 tflops = 10.5 tflops
gtx 1070 = 6.4 tflops
GTX 1070 is 9% faster

More tflops doesn't always translate to better game performance. In the case of the PS5 and Xbox One X they are using the same archictecture so the Xbox One X should perform better, but it might not perform that much better because of the clock speed.

They are wrong, their facts are a real thing?

Here are the credentials of the guy who's tweets I posted, he would know more about game development than the guy from DF, it could be that there is some misunderstanding going on between them but Maximov called out a specific thing the DF guy said as false.

Not once I have seen a developer or anyone to this day saying Xbox is weaker than PS5.

Sony them self haven't said it already or it would of been done.

Only the ps5 developers said it's a great system but never flatout said ps5 is powerful over the xbox series X.

Only fanboys who thinks they know technology.

Now that being said. The games however is a different story.

Yeah, you love it so much that you're flexing over posting s*** that's so wrong that it can't even be a mistake, and clucking like you laid the egg yourself. If you're going to be a clown, try to learn from what TDbank24 did... Oh, learning, forget I asked.

So cloud imperium and id know nothing about how games are developed? Oh, right, you are entitled to your opinion and everyone else is entitled to agree with it.

When did I say that?
Also I said on PAPER it is the more powerful system. I didn't say it was a big difference. I'm alluding to the fact that specs have been established so saying the XSX is more powerful isn't wrong. Just as saying the PS5 could outperform the XSX at times.
However what IS incorrect is saying or implying that the PS5 is more powerful than the XSX which is the narrative I take issue with.

If PS5 outperformed XSX at all(which is does) XSX can't be considered more powerful.
Both have strengths it's a wash.

I have posted more in depth tech analyst than*cough* DF and in some of the findings they were told by devs the things I been saying.

Which devs? Are they PS5 exclusive devs? If this is the case why haven't we heard from those devs directly? They want to talk to youtubers but don't want to speak to people on Resetera or beyond3D?

B3D is 2 much a PC fanboy anti console s***hole so I don't mess with them anymore.
Neogaf>>>>>>RE but I post at both.

It's a wash to me honestly. Yeah beyond can be PC master race annoying and resetera leans heavily towards Playstation. Trying to find some middle ground that isn't fanboy centric is a challenge.
I don't post at Gaf often anymore I usually just troll lurk..😅

Neogaf is no holds barred! I luv it! Reset has way 2 much SJW sensitive BS and is way to high on PS.

It’s interesting watching Valiance making up his own rules to determine who wins. Xbox beats PS5 in all but one category.....yet that is a wash. This is video game, fantasy land console warrior talk at its finest.
