Sony has purchased Bungie - Their Final Shape

[Speculation] Bungie will once again be involved with the Halo Franchise/co-owners of I.P. with Microsoft

After the handling of the Halo franchise by 343 Studios(mass departures, uncertain direction/future, delays, etc) for Microsoft I have a very strong feeling their have been "discussions" between Bungie and Microsoft to
come back aboard the I.P. that Bungie created: HALO. "Feelers sent out?" "Cross promotion discussions?"

This will either come in the form of buying the I.P. back outright from Microsoft(with agreements in place that MS will still have HALO games for their console/PC platforms day and date with future releases) or a "partial sale/co-ownership of
the I.P" where Bungie will make the Halo series available to other platforms from Sony, Nintendo and Nvidia. My gut instinct is that we'll see a "co-ownership/partnership" between Bungie and Microsoft.

Let's face it, Halo has floundered under 343 along with Microsoft's management of the I.P.

Halo needs fresh, experienced developers along with management to help guide it into the future. What better company to do that then the I.P's creator in Bungie?

P.S. Wouldn't be surprised at all to hear/read about a delay of the single player Halo Infinite Campaign until Summer 2022.

Let me add that Dec Destiny 2 DLC will have Halo content.
Lol no to all that 😂

Bungie broke away from MS for a reason and Destiny seems to be doing very well for them, I have them both but haven't touched Destiny 2 since probably a month or two after it came out if I remember correctly. I don't see how they have a need to be bought by MS. or how that would benefit them other than making the owners wealthier, they already make a ton of money and can publish their own games now. They have over 700 employees and are valued at $2 Billion dollars, not sure why MS would want to buy them either.

The part where the rich get richer is the most compelling argument.

So true, I just wonder how many of the original guys who wanted to break away are still there. That being said it's still a huge expensive for one studio, $2 billion and taking on around 700 or more new employees.

I will say, every Halo game that 343 developed has been abysmal for me. Halo Master Chief Collection was even at first a big fail.

There is NO way MS lets ANYONE co-own the Halo IP. Any other IP might be on the table but not Halo.

I could see a buy back or a 2nd party partnership, or even an advisory role from certain employees. But most of the people that made a halo or Bungie with Halo CE have left.

Most major contributors have been gone since two. They’ve gone to start their own studios, many of which have been support studios to not only Bungie and 343 but to activision or other publishers. Markus Letho has been very vocal and is more than willing to work with 343 on halo, especially now that Joe Staten is back.

Many of the faces from their recent showcases have been previously employed at other major studios, many from naughty dog, insomniac, SSM, Bethesda/ID, Epic to name a few. Much of 343 is made up of OG devs from Bungie that have been there, many since it’s formation…. I forget the guys name atm, but the guy with the long hair that looks like the lead singer from nickelback lol

If Bungie does get bought out by Xbox, I can see them take it over. They have what’s left of the Destiny trilogy, and two other new IPs they’ve been working on for a while.

Isn't Halo infinite supposed to be a 10 year game? I wouldn't be surprised if they got Bungie to do a new campaign as DLC or something.

They really dont need Bungie like that now. 343i got the reins and delivered with Infinite. Cant wait to rock it thursday!

"Delivered".......The games not even done, they won't have online Campaign Co-op in the game until some time next year.

Wow, what a weird history for Bungie. They get sick of being a 1 franchise only company under a single console. They work to get themselves released, then turn themselves into a 1 franchise only company. Now they're once again under a single console.

Hopefully Sony can force them to work on something else.

Bungie specifically said that Destiny and their future games will not be exclusives. Bungie just a truck load of cash to do whatever they were going to do anyway.
