Official Thread Star Wars Battlefront 2

Hmmm, game is definitely better than the first, but movement feels heavy and it looks like a layer of vasoline was slopped on top of the PS4 PRO version. Yeah, I'll get EA Access for the 10 hours and be done with it after that.

Do they only use this to mask problems in games? I don't know anyone who actually thinks that effect looks good.

Well, CA exists in real life camera lenses. From my personal experience, the cheaper the lens, the more prominent the CA.

The problem here is that many objects on screen have that bright, colored fringe around it, which almost makes it look like you're looking at a red/blue 3D movie without the red/blue glasses. After a while, your eyes will get fatigued but the more immediate effect is that things do not look clear.

As far as why it's used in games? I suppose it can be used to hide jaggies, but it's also supposed to simulate a real life camera lens.

Yeah, sadly they try to simulate it in a terrible way. The way it's done in this game it's like looking through a bottle not a camera lens lol.

warning large image below.

I took a screenshot (PC) at 1440p. Zoomed into some leaves next to the Millennium Falcon's radar. There is color fringing nearly everywhere where there is high contrast with outdoor light. Imagine that fringing everywhere. Makes it difficult to focus the eyes.

Damn. I just noticed there's also this weird blurring in the corners of the screen. It's not just vignetting. Actual out of focus type of blurriness.

Nah. The rest of the elements of the visuals are great.

The LOD fade in on the strike map is pretty bad, it's a beta though so I'm not going to judge it yet but if that CA stays it's going to ruin the look of the game for me.

They should tweak the hero system because as it is the first sections have none and then the final section has them constantly.

Yeah I'd have to agree with you. Looks like there is some kind of grain filter or something.

The chromatic aberration is the biggest offender, it's WAY too strong and it really messes up the look of the game. Also I think there is an issue with how the HDR is implemented.

Played more tonight, finally got the hang of the new controls in fighter squadron and had a lot of fun, I mostly picked the bomber class ships.

Downloaded the beta late last night. I will have time to try it out Sunday morning before football. From the videos I’ve seen it looks fun.

The beta is lots of fun. It’s a huge improvement over the original in every way that I can see. I was paying this no attention at all but now I think it’s on the list. I assume it will get then 10 hour trial with EA access.

I had fun. I like the different classes, but wow the visuals on ps4 pro are blurry af for some reason.

The space combat looks so good that it has me considering playing a version that will make em look even better.....don't do multiplayer on the PC much so might go X..... Need details of the exact improvements the X version will have and what if any exclusives will be in the PS4 version.

The game is blurry and weird looking on both my launch X1 and my PS Pro. Hard to describe, but definitely weird. Battlefront 1 looks great on my PS Pro. Hopefully they get that all sorted out by launch. Looking forward to playing in my Xbox X.

My only other gripe with the game is balancing. The guns you start with are terrible compared to the ones you unlock.

Also those thin battle droids are nearly impossible to see (hopefully fixed by fixing the graphics). I got killed so many times by someone just standing up against a wall that I couldn't see.
