Star Wars Battlefront: Official Thread

I'm super excited about this now, but I'm a little concerned we have seen absolutely NO X1 gameplay yet.
I'm assuming this is because of Sony's marketing deal..??

I wouldn't worry. Expect the game to look and play very similar across both consoles.
 
It looks good, sounds like the dude from Tie fighter during the imperial voice over
 
I'm not even a fan of Star Wars, but one thing about SW is the dogfights are always exciting in the movies. Even the crappy fake looking stuff from the early films is still fun. The ships, the speed, the sound effects. The new Fighter Squadron mode video keeps it up.
 
bluhh. Saw some gamescom demo stuff, just really not doing it for me.

I mean finally a star wars game with some money behind it, but the pick ups, the new class system, bljerghlh not a huge fan. Lack of single player is a big problem for me too. (Also too much focus on the rebel scum, but that's a different thing entirely.)

This is DICE, when they say beta they mean over the next 2 years...

I dunno, feels dated and kind of boring. Maybe the beta will change my mind. Also, hip firing across the map like that and dropping dudes is lol.

I find the sounds of the game destroying all rational thought.... Must think... objectively.... don't ....get.... sucked in by.......Nostalgia......HHhhnnnnnggGGGH!

...Luckily Halo 5 will distract me long enough for solid impressions to emerge.

That video is pretty boring but it could be the player. Glad they are doing a beta.

It's boring watching someone else doing slow tactics or picking away at the enemy instead of charging in.

Games like this look better when a team gets momentum and groups of guys start moving together to start capturing areas on the map. Or if someone gets a Jedi/Sith.

This is the very reason why companies always show the highly scripted sections of games when demoing them.

That would be a LOT cooler if Han were 3d instead of just a picture.

Wow, that is sneaky. From the pics it does look 3D and would have been pretty cool. Slapping a sticker on a cheap mini-fridge (good ones only cost about $40) is an absolute insult. No wonder Wally World is the only place offering this garbage.

Well, I'm only going off of the pic you posted. Looks 2d to me. There is no perspective going on at all with his hands or feet, let alone occlusion.
 
While I get the point of his opinion...I found it to be a little stupid. I mean, he knocked the game for things that's pretty much present in most mp shooters. Hi biggest gripe, which he went on and on about, is that doing things "really don't matter", or that the maps in rotation aren't strung together in any meaningful way....ummm, hello.......that's the case in any mp game you play.
