Star Wars: The Last Jedi

One more thing:

From The Force Awakens

I'm glad JJ is now making IX, since the Knights of Ren were completely absent, yet were made to be such a big deal in TFA. Maybe he should rap up some of his own contrivances, since it was omitted from TLJ completely.

Knights of Ren are the most wasted things in SW

That scene really could've been shot differently, though I like what it went for.

can someone explain to me why the guy in the trench tasted the footprint and said it was salt??? WTF was the point of that scene?!?!

No way would Luke just give up and hide. Guy is the hero who took on the Emperor and Vader by himself.

Hamill said they should have stuck with George's version and i agree. These films s*** on one of the best heroes in cinema.

I *think* it was because at first it looked like blood. ...And it had to be explained before then speeders went streaking red all over the place.

Just a guess.

I’m not totally disagreeing here but how to use him..? He can’t take on the Republic himself. And if he kills all the main bad guys the storylines have nowhere to go. And at this point he’s too old to do anything anyways (except for what he did in this one).

It makes him more interesting as a character to be conflicted, bitter, etc. Either way the people view him as a legend, so he inspires everyone.

If they did use him differently, the storyline for the whole movie would have to be entirely different.

I don’t know what Lucas would have done with these movies, but I personally thought his take on 1-3 effing sucked. A few good moments but overall a bore fest.

Yeah, I can say with almost complete certainty, that things would have been much worse in the hands of GL, so far. I just wish he would have never went back and directed. His ideas with a good script writer and director would probably still have been on point, but since he had too muck up all of the prequels, I don't believe he would have given the reins to anyone without giving up the whole thing completely.

The more I think about the movie the more disappointed I get.
There were good things about it too. I'm looking forward to another viewing, but I will say that the very best thing about the OT, was how simple they were. The more complex you try to go, the more muddled and less pure the overall theme is. That was what mostly bogged down the prequels. That is the root of the problem here, and I think some editing down definitely should have happened with this movie, but there was some really good stuff in there too.

i just rewatched force awakens, and it was far better tbh, it feels more serious and the tension is there without all the jokes at every possible opportunity

one of my biggest problem with last jedi is how some scenes were like they were from a parody! just makes the whole film or scenarios a joke. watching force awakens also made me realize how little lightsabers are used in last jedi. Some scenarios also required way too much suspension of disbelief

will watch again for final verdict, but a 6.5/10 atm

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the negativity with the film. I can only wonder what the reaction to ESB would have been had the internet been around at release.

What has been released is now officially SW cannon and can't be erased. What I want to know where the Star Wars kid of a forum member is for the toy and movie reviews? She would set everyone straight.

Saw it. Really really liked it. Some great scenes in it. I do agree though that Luke was a little under used.

I feel like the complaints are likely to be centered on

1. Rey's parents. I have no problem with her parents being unimportant but they should have just revealed that in the last movie instead of building up a mystery around it for 2 movies for no real reason.
2. Snoke's death. He is pretty much the Boba Fett of the new trilogy.
3. Luke. Mark Hamill was great but Luke hiding on an island waiting to die was ridiculous and his end is so unsatisfying.
4. The length. It had no reason to be 2 and half hours. Cut out the Finn and Rose side quest and nothing is lost.

Agree with everything.
