Steam in-home streaming now live

Ummm, not the same. That's streaming older ps games via their library to your ps4.

It "would be the same" if you could stream games "from" your PS4 to a PS3, 360, pc, tablet, etc.
For example, the PS4 in the living room and the ps3 upstairs. Want to play PS4 games upstairs without moving your PS4? "If" it were the same, you'd be able to.
Playstation Now on Vita TV. Vita TV everywhere else. ???

Similar, but still only to a vita device. Can't hook up the vita to a laptop? You will also only play PS games. This is steam games, and any other game that you link to steam. That's old game, new games, etc.

Can my console do it? Of course it can. Is it? No.

Do I care if it ever does.....not at all.

Vita TV, right?

I was just going to edit my post when I thought about his PS4 comment in there. This news is not new....at least to me anyway
PS4 has remote play which is identical to what Steam is doing here, only it is limited to the Vita as the second device at the moment. Vita TV will likely be coming soon. Playstation Now is a different animal.

No....

The device accepts Vita game cards in a little slot on the device. It uses PlayStation Now to run PSP, PS1, PS2, and PS3 games as well as the PlayStation Store to this device. It uses a remote link to stream the PS4 console to whatever room this device is in.

Gotcha. Good to know.

Now, here's the big question.....will those games be the same old low res, low performing games?

The benefit of this steam thing, is that it essentially makes any old pc a high end pc as long as you have a high end pc in the house.
Right now, next gen console's library is limited, so the benefit you'd be looking at, is playing older games, but not better looking or performing.

But I see the similarities now.

His point was that those were the best iterations of said games. Which they were. Hell, pc even has Fable 3. However, Fable 1 was the best fable. The others simply are not even worth mentioning.

I mean, seriously....you're going to use a pitiful excuse of an rpg as your example? And the more recent Halos? The worse Halos?

bwahahahahahahahaha

You console gamers get some of the most dumbed down games, and you think pc gamers are sore over it? lol, most pc gamers couldn't care less about those games. They're busy playing better games.
It wasn't even about those being the best in said franchises, he flat out said I couldn't play any of those games which is absolutely false.

Can your PC play Halo, Gears, Fable, and Forza among other awesome exclusives? Nope, didn't think so.

MY PC can play Halo, Gears of War and Fable.

And Forza? I don't play racers, but if I did I have my choice of at least a dozen better racers.

Yes, Yes, Yes, no.

On a side note I just tried out the streaming playing the same game they just showed, Batman Arkham Origins and it VERY playable, was there a little bit of lag? Yes, but it wasn't anything near what that video showed. Totally playable and I was countering people ease which you need to time just right, and to top it off I was playing on my 5GHz wireless network. Image quality was probably like a 8/10 in comparison to streaming videos, looked as good as a good 1080p youtube video. Very cool.

I decided to take the time to set up my network tonight. Now, I've never set up a proper network so I'm starting from scratch. Right now the issue is that my PC keeps telling me I can't create a home group without restarting my modem/router. There's other people here that use the internet so I gotta wait till the weekend when they're out and about.

But all my PC's (my main rig, my GTX 660 rig and my AMD 6770 rig) are all hard-wired into my router. So I figure that if there's any latency at all it would be about the same level as I get if I were to use a wireless kbm on any of those PC's.

Wrong again. It can't play any of the best games in those franchises. What do you have on PC, a weak port of Halo 2 and Gears of War?

Can your console play DOTA 2, LOL, World of Warcraft, Quake Live, Path of Exile, Torchlight 2, Planetside 2, Unreal Tournament 2K4, Amnesia The Dark Descent, Amnesia A machine for Pigs, DayZ, Wasteland 2, Marvel Heroes, Starcraft 2, Hearthstone, Arma III, Company of Heroes 2, Gone Home, Grim Dawn, Hawken, Neverwinter Knights, Rise of the Triad, Shootmania, Smite, Starbound, Wildstar, Star Citizen, Archage, Heroes of the Storm...

I'd continue but I really don't want to type out another 200-300 exclusive, high quality PC games

No....

Right. We've already established that they are similar, but not quite the same.

PS4 can stream to vita. it can stream games from past PS machines.

Steam in-home streaming can stream to almost any device (cross platform even) and any game that will run on a windows PC.

You're a clown. You can't play Halo, Gears, and Fable on a PC today. That's a fact. Nobody has played those older games on PC because they bought an original Xbox or 360 because they couldn't wait for them to come to PC. And where's your PS exclusives by the way? Can you play Uncharted, Infamous, God of War, or Gran Turismo on PC? Nope, hahaha. See that's the joke here. You Master Race people love to hate on consoles yet you run out and buy them because you can't go without. You don't see console gamers building PCs to play your exclusives because nobody cares. How's it feel?

Do you even read these forums? Since we all left TXB there's been at least half a dozen or more people on these very forums that have built, bought pre-built or are in the build your own rig thread asking questions in preparation to build/buy a PC to play PC games.

And they already own one or both of the new-gen consoles.

Then again it's you, so I shouldn't expect any less than pure fiction from your observations.

Wait.....WHAT!!!!???? That is f***in amazing!

So I can play Wolfenstein by streaming it from my gaming rig to my 'barely able to play half life 2' laptop???
Am I reading this right????????

Don't quote me on this, but I think Gaikai's quality will be the same for Gaikai games. Not sure about PS4. But I do know the handhelds will remain the same from what I know

Exactly.

You can also stream said game to your tablet if you own one.

Probably going to buy the lowest of end steam machine when they come out for this.

Holy mother of God!!!
It works! I was streaming Wolfenstein just now to my craptastic laptop and it was glorious. Even has a little icon pop up saying 'steaming to my PC'

I love you Valve, I want your babies, and NEVER EVER GET RID OF THIS!!
PC Master Race has evolved yet again!

This is awesome!

Yeah thread title was a bit flame bait, thank you for changing it. Sets the tone for good discussion vs flamewar.

I wake up to see the nonsense in this thread? PC fan makes a thread title that invites championing, "Can your console do this," and is dumbfounded that it turned into a mess. Console fan comes in and gets all butt hurt to the colon for no real reason. You can't make this s*** up!

I agree now where is my posts?

This is pretty cool. But how would you play Skyrim on your iPad?

Does each game have individual apps for control and interface?

Okay, so I found out that this doesn't work on Android or iOS tablets, it will only work on Windows Tablets.

On another note lol @ TDBanks posts getting deleted, you can come in here and state you opinions but when you come in here saying "You can't play Halo, Gears, or Fable on PC" and then get factually proven wrong by pictures of box art and reviews and even I own Gears on PC and then still say we're wrong, you've got some serious problems.

No, you don't use the screen as you would an app made for the device. I'd assume you'd use a usb interface gadget to hook up a controller or keyboard/mouse.

Edit:
The vid shows you exactly what I'm saying:
