Streets of Rage 4

This makes me so happy.

Me and a buddy played SOR 2 so much that we could be it on Mania mode without using a continue. We may have even beat it on Mania without losing a life but i can't remember exactly.

I never had a Sega system, but friend had the Genesis including SoR 2 and it was a blast.

Fuuny how the dude Axel seems to have aged considerably, but the girl still looks young.

I was like 5 when the SNES/Genesis came out so wasn't really up to me on what consoles to buy lol

Freaking sweet! Played the crap out of all of them. Glad to see that they kept it sprite based. You lose something with games of this type when you move to 3D.

When is this supposed to come out?

Awesome. Streets of Rage is one of my better Genesis memories for sure. Glad they're bringing it back.

Hopefully the greatly expand the moveset- this ain't 1992...

I used to enjoy playing snake on my Nokia. I am sure I wouldn't enjoy it as much today. I am sure this game will be fun with a buddy, & I may consider getting it, if someone wanted to play with me to relieve our childhood, if the price is right. As a solo experience, I probably woudln't get it.

Talking about beat them up, One of my favorite is Capcom Captain Commando for the arcade, that & the Aliens vs Predator Acrade game. Wonder if they will revive them.

Not same guy doing the music though...?

Yuzo posted on Twitter that he can't talk about SOR 4. Its not 100% but it sounds like he's doing something for it. It could be in the discussion stage so that maybe why he can't talk. I'd think he would have just said he wasn't working on it if that were the case.

Streets of Rage 4, the long-awaited fourth installment in the SEGA Genesis sidescrolling beat’em up series, has been showcased with some new beautiful screenshots.

Announced at Gamescom 2018 for a 2019 release, the game is being developed by Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games with DotEmu set to publish it. This will be the first new franchise entry since 1994; in-game, it will be set ten years after the events of Streets of Rage 3.

No platforms have been officially announced yet but given the lightweight nature of the game, it would be surprising not to see it land on every major gaming device.

A cult classic

Streets of Rage, known as Bare Knuckle (ベア・ナックル Bea Nakkuru) in Japan, is a trilogy of beat ’em up games developed and published by SEGA in the 1990s.

Famously known for its nonstop action and electronic dance influenced music – scored by Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima – the series has gained the status of cult classic throughout the years. It is considered one of the best beat ’em up series of all time. After many years, Axel and Blaze are finally picking up the fight where they left.

Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem. Streets of Rage 4 recalls classic gameplay but it stands as an entirely original arcade-style romp thanks to the expertise of Guard Crush Games and Dotemu.

Whether players gang up with a friend or clean up the city solo, Streets of Rage 4 is a skull-bashing, chicken-chomping delight all set to a thumping soundtrack sure to get your blood pumping. Features

  • The comeback of the legendary Streets of Rage series.
  • Beautiful graphics fully hand-drawn animated by the studio behind Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.
  • Classic gameplay enhanced with brand new mechanics.
  • Braised chicken served on a pristine plate.

I was more worried before seeing footage from the Wonderboy remake they did. It looks nice, with decent animation...
