The Dark Below Stories and Impressions

So the next DLC might still be months away, and several weapons are getting nerfed in an effort to make us use pulse rifles more? I'm incredibly unimpressed with Bungie's complete lack of effort at fixing this sloppy game. Making PvE more difficult just to balance what is being used in PvP is baffling. I've lost any hope I ever had that they might turn things around to the extent Blizzard did with Diablo 3, or even just just making it work like it was originally supposed to like Dice did with BF4. Instead, they seem to continually flounder with bad ideas, show no interest in community feedback, waste their time on things the community doesn't care about, and misuse statistics to fuel unnecessary and unwanted tinkering and miserably thought through mechanics.

This has to be far and away the worst game I've ever stuck with in the hopes it would get better, and I'm really starting to think there's absolutely no hope of that.

Nerfing auto rifles by 2% and reducing their range, reducing handcannon range and reducing fusion rifle range. But increasing pulse rifle effectiveness across the board. I think Bungie is killing their own game. I mean, by all means boost pulse rifles to make them more attractive but don't reduce the effectiveness of the other weapons people like to use. And then on top of that the new dlc will increase the level to 32 for strikes and raids making them needlessly more difficult because of the reduction in weapons.

I don't think I've ever read patch notes to an upcoming patch and thought, "I'm not sure if I want to support this game any more" as much as I did last night. I'm still baffled by their choices. So disappointing, it's like every tiny step forward they make post-launch, they take a dozen steps back.

What’s funny is, Bungie said they looked at their numbers from the game telling them most use Auto Rifles and the least used weapon are Pulse Rifles. So instead of boosting Pulse Rifles and leaving everything else alone they want to make changes to try and force people into Pulse Rifles. It won’t work, instead it will probably make Pulse Rifles more popular while pissing other people off to the point of quitting the game.

Its cool, about time I start playing my backlog of games anyway.

The statistics they posted about which weapons people use should be all the proof that they need to know they are f***ing up. I wonder who's dumbass idea it was to further nerf the most popular weapon type. The prick(s) should be fired.

Yep. This has literally killed any small interest I still had. Time to park this for awhile.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I try the new weapons patch.

That’s a good approach.

Auto Rifles aren’t all that effective to warrant a reduction. Most of them have low impact which means its basically one kill with one clip. Scout rifles are a little more effective but the trade-off is smaller clip size, slower fire rate which is reasonable. Pistols are balanced by a small slip size and slower fire rate with less range. It seems to me Bungie is making a blanket adjustment for Crucible gameplay and I just don’t think that’s the way to go. I think they need to do weapon balancing on a case by case basis.

They should evaluate each weapon’s performance and adjust accordingly. But instead they are looking at their internal numbers and applying a broad change across the board which to me seems a bit lazy. There is no doubt Pulse Rifles need to be addressed but Bungie should leave AR alone. The Necrocasm will be even worse off than it is today. A weapon that takes so long to upgrade and yet no one wants.

But hey, even if this pushes me away from the game I won’t be to bothered by it. After all, for the last few months Destiny is all I’ve played. Its been so much fun tinkering with builds and continuing to evolve and get more powerful. And both of my classes (Warlock/Titan) are not only powerful but look awesome. Yes, my characters must look good on the battlefield. The grind has been fun for the most part because many times I’m replaying the same missions with new weapons and gear which kept things fun for me. And the promise of new rewards is a good way to keep me playing. I just really like loot driven games.

So I got the Necrochasm the other day. I have used it enough in the PvE to form an opinion on it. Its bad, not worst exotic in the game bad, but its bad. It is great against low level mobs, but anything lvl30+ its crap. It is an easy decision when trying to decide which exotic to use. Not it.

Just looking at its stats, it's bad. Impact so low...

Got Dark Below about two months ago. It was good and I've sinked many hours into Crota's End and new strikes. Admittedly, I thought the story was rather weak and has created even more confusion then before. It's a paper-thin story that I really HATE when developers are doing that to their video games. I really hope that Bungie will fix/add more interesting story in the future DLC. I personal think Bungie needs to step up more in order to keep players stay and play. Over Destinytracker.com, I've noticed that the number of players is getting low everyday and I'm having a hard time find a group to do the raids. I didn't even have the problem last month but this month is even worse for me. Not a good sign.

However, I'm looking forward to House of Wolves. Can't wait.
