The Dark Souls Thread!

Still haven't beat Dark Souls, when I had it on the 360 ornstein and smough became my downfall, had gotten rid of the system + games before I was able to defeat them. But now I have it again on the PC (Just rang my first bell) & am eagerly awaiting finishing it & starting on part 2. Best RPG series I have ever played, nothing makes me FEEL more like a knight wandering through a brutal castle like Dark Souls does.

f*** Ornstein and Smough. No other boss fight was on that level of annoying. The travel time between the two nearest bonfires and that boss fight just added to the frustration. I probably have done that boss fight three dozen times and only once beat them

It's one of my favorite games of all time TD! Really glad to hear it. Where are you at exactly?

I'm actually pretty hyped for the game. I really need to fire up Dark Souls and start warming up again. This is one of those games where you actually need to get in the groove.

Amazon just got in contact.. and it's earlier than I expected! Error on their part, or do you think FromSoft will get it out the door this early?

Got an email from amazon.co.uk saying that's the day I will have the game.

Just a month ago or so got another email saying they didn't know when I was going to get it."

True, but not as much as something like Ninja Gaiden where you need to memorize combos and get your reflexes sharp. After you get good at Dark Souls, I can get back into it with just a little warm up.

Hey,

I'm an older guy and I consider myself a conservative more than a liberal as far as political views go but Fox News is so damn stupid. They are mentioning Dark Souls when talking about these two idiots who murdered someone they met on Craig's List!

It doesn't bother me that the pc version comes in May because honestly I'm up to my ass in unfinished (or even unplayed) games already, and I don't even own a next gen console yet...

I've got plenty of stuff to keep me busy. And well, I just don't have much desire to buy anything new right now. Hell, I've been playing Demon's Souls co-op for the last couple weeks and still enjoying it.

Still waiting for PC date but if it's out more then 2 weeks later, I am getting it for Xbox and then returning it and getting the digital pc version. I don't care about losing the money on the trade-in plus I will help someone get it for cheaper.

Minor spoilers in the video, but lots of new areas shown.

Sounds good. Love that you can fast travel now. Who would want to make the game harder :surprise:

Also the narrator of that vid sounded very.....disconsolate. Reminded me of that robot from Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy.

I know some have issues with new fast travel, but I am all for it. From what I read DS II is a little like Demon's Souls in the sense that there's a nexus that acts as a central hub. In Demon's Souls, if you wanted to go from 1-2 to 3-1, you'd have to load to the nexus then load again to the next destination. Fast travel will save a lot of that unnecessary back and forth that Dark Souls had.

So long as DS II doesn't allow you to be invaded more frequently than Dark Souls, I like everything I've read so far.

I hate the invading aspect.

another thing I did like from that video is bosses actually seeking you out. Rather than just waiting for you. That could lead some to cool, WTF moments.
