I'm just afraid that Bernie's socialism is just a non-starter with a ton of Americans.

If the general election were a simple majority, maybe all those voters in NY and CA could swing things, but we all know that the elections get won and lost in other states.

People simply don't trust the government to make something like Bernie's socialism happen, and they see nothing but higher taxes.

I mean, a far left view isn't even necessarily going to win among Democrats.

He beat Hillary in Michigan and Wisconsin so I don't think the socialist thing will hurt the way some think, plus he's a democratic socialist he's not saying that the government should be in charge of everything but that things like Healthcare should be a right and not only for those who can afford it. I'm not 100% on board with his jobs guarantee because how do you actually make sure there is a job for everyone in every city? Also not 100% sure about free public college and forging student debt, I think Yang's approach with UBI makes more sense because it'd be easier to implement and would help everyone and not just people who've gone to college.

Well I don't think getting under 50% in Michigan in a primary is proof of much of anything either way.

The scariest thing about Bernie might be how the polls show Medicare 4 All as being very popular but also show a large chunk of those people as believing they would have the option of private insurance.

Its hard to to not be pretty nervous about whoever ends up winning though

He needs to make sure that he supports whoever the nominee is and drill into his supporters they need to go out and vote for him or her. Unlike Bernie...

At least you know Bernie will make every effort in the general.

He has already said he would, he even said he'd be happy to serve in someone else's administration. Bernie did something like 40 campaign events for Hillary she only did 13 for Obama so this narrative that he didn't do enough for her is crazy.

That's just it, Bernie is an idealist. He's got a clear, consistent message (which is something most Democrats lack). You know what Bernie stands for.

During the debates with Hillary, she kept asking "how are you going to pay for all this?". Not a lot of people watched those debates, but she destroyed Bernie. The problem is Bernie has little in the way of practical explanation of how he's going to make anything work.

If we aren't sure if/how it will work, how does the rest of the country feel? It is good that Barnie talks economics, but he's talking jobs when unemployment is at a record low.

Good news is against Trump in a debate he is a much better fit than Hillary even though Hillary was better vs Bernie.

No matter who wins it can't be from a contested convention and that seems plausible with so many people running and in a position to get some delegates.

Yang reiterated this morning on Morning Joe that he will support whoever the candidate is and encouraged his supporters to do the same as there is one singular goal in November for the presidential election.

A lot of polling shows that this" great economy" isn't making people's lives better, even a good amount of republicans are saying that. Bernie will hit that hard, Biden would have a hard time because he is basically for the same old things that got Trump elected in the first place.

I can't imagine tonight going any other way than Bernie getting the most votes but someone else getting the most delegates so people can complain its rigged.

I'm just waiting until Gabbard wins 87 million delegates in N.H.

From the few reports I've seen Bernie was doing a little better than expected and he was already expected to win, Buttigieg and Warren were going back and forth for 2nd and 3rd and Biden was doing worse than expected and not even assured 4th place. Of course that was earlier in the night, regardless of the outcome this makes the democratic party look bad and certainly the dems running the show in Iowa look incompetent.

Its an absolute disgrace. The party is bad for letting Iowa go first and the Iowa Democratic party is just completely incompetent. Has to be the end of Iowa and caucuses in general. It was a disaster before they couldn't report the results.

Bernie certainly got the most votes with a chance Pete got the most delegates and "won".

I didn't end up going last night. Got home and felt like garbage. Was still sketchy up until 6:30 when doors opened so decided against being stuck there 2+ hours and being sick. Just another reason the caucus needs to go away. MSNBC was in Dubuque at one of the schools and there was only like 200 or so people I think. My precinct was at another school as well and I doubt turnout would have been much better. Either way, unless other places had a ton more people I can't imagine more than 5k turning out in a city of nearly 60k. Just turn it to a primary and get rid of Iowa being the first to go.

So, after 2016 was all about e-mail hacking, election hacking, what do they do? Rush build a mobile app for the Iowa caucuses.

Mobile apps are great... for ordering pizza or maybe an uber. For anything like an election? No. Just no.

I'm not a Buttigieg supporter but this woman did a great job even if she couldn't change the other woman's mind.
