The Golf Club

It's a golf game.....these consoles should be able to do it at 4K.

Common misconception that golf games aren't taxing on systems because all you have is 1 golfer and a little ball moving compared to shooters/sports games with multiple players and AI moving about.

Truth is rendering a large outdoor environment with swaying trees takes a lot of horsepower to run. Courses, even individual holes are larger than most FPS maps and have hundreds if not thousands of trees. Trees are quite different from static buildings, especially ones that balls can play through or hit and deflect off branches and such.

I just saw the TW PGA Tour trailer, which I didn't realize the Golf Club trailer was parodying.

Looks good. Due Spring 15. Not cross-gen; next gen only.

These EA golf games need to be 60 fps. Sure, golf games are slow paced but the feel seems sluggish at last gen responsiveness. Never understood why they were capped at 30 fps. These games are not demanding. Just a big field with almost zero movement of stuff on screen at any given time.

I'm pretty confident PGA Tour Golf will finally be 60 fps.

720p XBox One 30-45fps
1080p PS4 30-40 fps

Supposedly the input (swing) framerate is 60fps for both.

Little disappointing the Xbox version couldn't even get to an acceptable 900p. The only thing going for Xbox is the PS4 version has been delayed and won't be releasing Aug 19th. Could be a couple day delay, week or 2, or who knows at this point.

lol, but off topic. I was a nightclub bouncer years ago and my "callsign" was batman. They even made shirts with our names on them. Fantastic four - tater tot, zeus, spongebob, and batman.

Anyway, I have no idea why this is game runs so crappy. Looks like it should run better on 360 than that.

So if it is 60 during the only moments you are actually playing, who cares if it is not anywhere else. They should lock at 30 outside of swings though.

Anybody else enjoying this game here? It kind of has a cult following on other forums. Ive always been a sucker for a good golf game since Links 386 Pro back in the day, and this game is such a breath of fresh air from other games lately. So relaxing. Even my wife likes to watch me play. Unlimited replayability too with all the user generated courses (over a thousand of them so far, many of which are exact replicas of famous courses). Probably my favorite golf game since Links 2004 for Xbox.

Also if anyone here creates their own golf course let us know, it would be interesting to try it.

The game is fun and the course creator alone is worth the price if you enjoy something to create. I'm working on my first 2 courses but I'm taking about an hour per hole so it's going to take awhile. You can create something less detailed much quicker. The game does have issues - crashes, stats not tracking, multiplayer is very limited, but the devs promise continued support with patches and additions so it should get better over time. I have it on both consoles and while the PS4 does look better I find myself playing it more on xbox because the controller works better for my swing. YMMV.
