The Last of Us Part 2 - New Trailer Contains Spoilers

or unnecessary scenes/moments like in one of the recent Star Trek films where the girl was just in her undies for no affect or reason besides just showing her off

I still find the MGSV character Quiet the most embarrassing thing I've seen in gaming that I can remember.

Yep, that's definitely some SJW agenda s***.
Not even close, they exist lol
and given the storyline that brought them together and the type of world that they are living in it only makes it more believable.

Man that probably should have had a tag.

I'll tag it to be safe but I don't see it as a narrative spoiler.

Well, that happened in the first one if that's what you mean
Going from playing as Joel to playing as Ellie, aka Arbiter? Divisive ending could be a lot of things

That is exactly what I mean.

The ending will be Divisive. There's no way around it. I'm not saying it won't make sense in the narrative after playing through the full game but its not going to sit well with a few people.

As for the SJW stuff, I don't really know how to qualify that statement. To some, inclusion of other groups of people( black, gay, trans gender etc) is seen SJW pandering where others see it a representation. Of what I watched and read, it doesn't seem out of place given the current world state and how the world devolves after their world crumbles. But that's just my opinion.

Wrong, she's hot... :yyell:

I've read spoilers for the game and watched some horrible quality video. It's all just so horrible...like beyond horrible. So terrible I will skip PS5 and switch back to Xbox next gen. I just can't justify supporting any company who would do something like this. It's just GARBAGE and Sony should be ashamed allowing their top developer to do something like this...if the spoilers are actually true.

Wtf? That bad?

Yeah they exist, but that's a pretty small percentage. It's also something we are beat over the head with already.

Now you gonna make them the big baddie? Sounds pretty preachy to me, and exactly who the SJW would pick for the antagonist. So that's the bad guy and Ellie is gay... not real subtle. Survival wasnt enough, you gotta get the gays, lol.

It doesn't make it better when homophobe is slung around like nazi these days- deserved or not. Now you gonna make a game where you get to violently kill them... oh, smells like agenda to me.

I always thought the idea of an immune person being gay and not passing on the immunity to the next generation was and interesting moral quandary.

I will definitely hold on this one until I get confirmation it's not what it sounds like.

At least if the dangers of revenge and what it does to you really takes its toll then there is a bigger message there.

They'll get the virtue points they are looking for, at least

It's a shame they are going to surround the character with controversy when they could have had a more normalizing integration.

From what I understand it's not just that they are homophobic they are all immune so they feel like they were chosen by god to inherit the earth so to speak. This isn't someone going to the local Methodist church and getting harassed, these are people who have lived through an insane time and tried to make sense of it and come out worse for it. I think the "homophobic" part is only a small portion of what they are meant to be but being that Ellie is gay if that is one of their tenets it's going to come up. Also having read some of the spoilers (I'm weak lol) there is more to what's going on than just that group. People seem to be focusing on one part of the game and making it out to be the entire thing.

Oh man, it’s been crazy reading up on all the controversy today! I wasn’t super excited about this game to begin with, never even really played the first one lol, but it sounds like Naughty Dog is getting what they deserve

f***... f***....fuuuuck... haven't watched the spoiler tags, but it's not hard to guess how it will come off as preachy; Ellie is gay, something happens and she's going to kill.every.last.one.
f***, I'll buy and play day one, but this doesn't feel great... not at all... f***

Yeah it's not like that should have been a surprise to him, I know it's a different culture but he was making a game that was going to sell more to western audiences than anywhere else. I've said it before and I'll say it again he's one of the most overrated people in gaming.

Kojima is a great japoonese man and video game maker.
Womens bodies are hot, that sells. Guys bodies are powerful (and hot for some men and most women).
Just embrace it, I'll take a bare muscular torso with ripped abs and defined pecs over a chunky guy with a hoodie anyday if I'd choose a game character.
I'm convinced EVERYBODY here watches porn, and likes it. Those are real (f***ed in the head) women, kojimas are computer generated models.

As far as this crunch issue, people seem to think because of the Kotaku article from a while back that this is mainly a naughty dog problem, this is an industry problem and pretty much all studios do it.

Hell when I worked at Activision I was put on a game that had a hard deadline to be completed because Nintendo had a deal with Toy's R Us for some short exclusivity & every bug I found was already reported so I was staring that that s*** little screen for 12 hours a day playing a game I didn't like and couldn't really contribute to because all of the bugs were reported & at that point they were just removing things that didn't work instead of fixing them. Oh well at least my name is in the credits of a video game I guess, one I never played after I quit working there lol.

I was envious of the other teams on the floor because they were testing games like X-Men Legends 2 for the various consoles and I was stuck playing a GB game, something I would never play on my own time. One thing I don't think a lot of people realize is Q/A testers generally aren't employees of the actual gaming company, they are usually working for a staffing company so they get no benefits or anything like that.

They also tend to be treated poorly by team leads because those people do work for the publisher and they see temp employees as disposable. I remember they were buying us all meals for lunch or dinner depending on which shift you were on because of the required OT, they bought the night shift Pizza but they bought it a right before lunch time so it was just sitting there. One of the day shift people thought it was for us and he took a slice of pizza and ate it. The team lead for one of the other games saw piece of pizza was missing and she became unglued lol, she was screaming across the entire room "who ate the pizza" and the guy raised his hand and admitted to it and explained why, and in a very hateful tone she just said "your gone, pack up and go NOW" it was insane.

That was back in 2005, hopefully Activision and companies like them have policies in place to keep that kind of thing from happening. It wasn't all bad though, people basically came to work in pajamas lol, they were wearing sweats, flip flips, tank tops etc it was very casual.

LOL I have no problem with people in games being built well, it's making the character basically naked and totally exaggerating parts of her body that were embarrassing. If they were having a sex scene that's one thing, having her run around with a sniper rifle in that outfit was idiotic lol.

I usually make my male characters wear I tank top if they have defined muscles and there's a choice. Human body is beautiful if taken care of and should be exhibited imo

I am old enough to remember saying someone is beautiful, & not being called names. I am playing FF7 at the moment, & while the characters (especially the side one) are super one dimension, over the top. But then again I remember the charm of the game just being fun, not serious. & not serving some social agenda or pass PC censors.
There is no way a character like Tifa with her "asserts" & outfit will pass the QC of a major western game studio.

to those who’ve seen the spoilers of who the antagonist is, do you think ND is going that route I order to play it safe or is said character influenced by what happened and therefore a reflection of why they are that way? I wanna go into details because I’m pretty sure I’m coming across in a form I’m. It intending to >,< and probably confusing

I think ND is going that way because they have an SJW agenda. They forced a lot of what's going on in this game onto players that never asked for it, if you read the spoilers you will see why I say that, because they totally s*** on the franchise when it comes to what actually happens.

I don't know the spoilers either, but I've definitely heard rumblings of heavy SJW-ness. I don't think being gay in and of itself qualifies as SJW. I'm sure most people expected that since e3. This may be different. I really wanted to play this, but if it's gonna be preachy I'm out. I've got to find out more info without spoiling it for myself if it's just some garbage overreaction.

I am worried as hell now though...
The term SJW has got out of control. It is ried to anything a person disagrees with. The term itself is dumb and deragotory and just spits in the face of any movement or idea regardless of importance or neccessity.

Everything trying to convey an idea or belief could be branded as preachy.

I haven't seen the spoilers, but they are a small piece of a whole. Imagine reading only parts of a book, you could come away with the complete opposite of what the book is actually saying.

I am trying to pre-order the game, but I am getting the following error:

When I go there, I choose my bundle, which is digital standard, and I get this:

It’s weird, but I feel like the more famous something/someone is, the more they are now expected to preach about social issues. Like when celebrities get awards, their peers expect them to give a mini-lecture on some current social issue.
One of my best friends lives in Santa Monica, and whenever I’ve visited, it feels like that almost everywhere you go. I wonder if ND/Druckman succumbed to the environment they’re in, considering they know the audience will be far into the millions for TLOU2.

Oh hell no. I couldn't resist the spoilers because I wanted to find a reason to get the game.... Hell no. Why? If I had bought the game and played that? I know I'd be pissed. A story that is thought provoking and challenging? Sure, but that would have straight pissed me off. I'm out of this one folks. The first one can live on without this one. Maybe one day that will wear off, but no. I'll wait till it's cheap. Damn. It's not even the SJW stuff (well, maybe in a round about way, but once you start doing gymanstics, it's hard to say if you made a wrong turn ).

It makes the turmoil at the studio make more sense, imo. Every time people start into that Ideology, it is super toxic and by it's own nature spirals down. If you want to see the ultimate culmination of it, check out the Evergreen College story. Benjamin Boyce on Youtube has a very intellectual, very long series on it.

That’s a really good point I hadn’t considered. Now I wonder if conflict over the tone of game contributed to the supposed problems there. Hmmm.

Thanks for the suggestion! I lived one Seattle years ago, and met people who went to Evergreen. Something always seemed weird with them, and when I’d ask locals about it they’d just go ‘oh, it’s just Evergreen people, you’d have to be from here to really know about it.’

Yeah, more than the SJW stuff, I think it’s the “subverting expectations = good writing” mindset they must have had when writing the story. Just because something is shocking or surprising doesn’t mean it’s also creative. Most of the time people are only surprised because they didn’t expect it to be so dumb lol.

That seems to be the case here. If you had asked people what’s the dumbest storyline you can think of for this game, they would have come up with many of the actual plot points in the final game 😂
