Look at your options. What is it you want and how much at said dealer it is or at another. Used cars through dealers are still at a huge markup, that’s why they want to buy it back early.

Maybe look in the private sector and take out a personal/auto loan (dono bout the latter).

What is it you’re looking for?

Guess I'm still seeing how my budget looks from a new job I started. Also, other uncertain financial things like the Student Loan payment restarting.

1st idea is just get a budget car that gets me to work and pay off quickly. The dealer website actually lists a Kia Forte that seems reasonable. The reason to consider them is they might include a limited warranty and I wonder if there could better trade in value just dealing with them. I don't know much about Kia except they've worked to improve their quality and compete with Japanese car makers. Otherwise, I generally hear you can do okay with used Corollas.

2nd idea is I have debated moving back to the Midwest, but not as north as I was before. My new company has locations by Cincinnati, OH and Fort Wayne, IN I'm thinking about. In that case, I'd look into reasonable 4 wheel drive for the occasional snow.

I'm not really enthused about driving a low seater car, but I guess I can deal with it.

If and when out there you may want to consider a Subaru… either an Impreza or, if ya need one with a lift kit, a crosstrek. Or anything Subaru really.

I know they’re still new, but I’ve found the Corolla Cross quite nice, a lil underpowered but adequate.

But if you want something new, 4wd/awd and kinda cheap in the new car space is the Maverick. Maybe get a tonneau cover/camper-top if you ever need to like camp out. I’ve yet to drive one, but if it’s anything like the bronco sport then it’s be a nice little car. Oh and I think they have power outlets in the back.

As for the accent, they’re good little cars, a lot of value in them. I have a coworker with one has has had any major issues, just regular maintenance and like a recall, something about the bumper cover, I think.

Great comment to the article:

I mean, the detail that if the aftermarket part or non-manufacturer backed service causes the problem it negates the warranty if the issue is related to that repair is right in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. In other words if you put on an aftermarket oil filter found to be defective and you have an oil related problem, you’re going to have an issue with the warranty. In the same situation if the problem is the headlight switch, you won’t.
