The Official: Automotive enthusiast thread

My Toyota Dealearship has reached out with the option of doing some kind of Early Lease Buyback or turning in the Rav4 early. Am considering it and wondered if anyone else has done something like this or what the typical options and benefits are.

The new lease Rav4 has been nice for the reliability and a nice ride, but I'm considering getting something used pay off almost right away so I'm not making monthly car payments anymore.

Not sure if it would be easier to get a used vehicle from the Dealership lot or exit the lease under whatever Lease 'Buyback' terms and then have more options to shop at other sellers.

So it’s not happening in South Korea, but it is in the UK

Look at your options. What is it you want and how much at said dealer it is or at another. Used cars through dealers are still at a huge markup, that’s why they want to buy it back early.

Maybe look in the private sector and take out a personal/auto loan (dono bout the latter).

What is it you’re looking for?

Nearing two months with the Civic and really enjoying it. A little over 2k miles on it, with a decent portion of that from driving to northern WI. Today found another neat feature. If the front wipers are on but not the rear, it will automatically turn on the rear when you put it into reverse.

Had a little scare earlier this week though. Got back to my car from biking and saw what looked like white paint specks on the right rear wheel and surrounding area. I knew it wasn't there at least Sunday as I visited my brother and someone would have noticed. They did paint some lines in town lately, but there were cars ahead of me going through it and no tire marks left. Plus nothing in the wheel well that I could tell.

Anyways the paint was more of a powder so I stopped by the car wash and hit it good. Got home and it was still there. Had some Meguiar's quick detailer and luckily that removed it with a bit of wiping.

Kept trying to think what it would be, then remembered at my brother's I parked in the driveway and nieces had drawn in chalk. It rained for a brief moment and I wouldn't have seen that part of the car when I left since my parents car was next to me. Only thing I could think of since it was fairly easy to remove by hand.
