The Official: Automotive enthusiast thread

Buy a scion im? Or civic hatch? From the 2010s maybe 2016 and up when back up cameras became mandated
I actually love my car. I can feel the road, love the way it accelerates. New cars that I've driven I feel disconnected.

It's a bit baffling trying to figure out what to go for next so I just keep this POS going which is absolutely cheaper in the long run.

Already got tickets to the Toronto Auto Show in February, hopefully I can nail down what I want next finally. The COVID years really messed up the auto industry where I live and you couldn't even buy a new vehicle really.

Yeah, a lot of cars have a way to artificial feel to them or you get no feedback from the road surface at all, some people like it or just don’t care.

Is yours an ss?

It's an LT and it has electronic stearing.

When it breaks down, my father lends me his Chevy Cruz I think it's a 2013 maybe? I hate the way it feels, hate the way it accelerates, hate the seats too actually and yet it cost nearly twice as much.

And it's weird because the Cobalt has electronic steering.

All my cars are hand me downs so I'm not actually complaining.

Hey, no shame in that, I’ve boughten most of mine used, through family or friends of family. Been really lucky, I know how to fix most of what I can (a lot from YouTube and old forums), when I’m not lazy, but I got friends who got the tools 😆

If you were in the market what would you be looking for?

Honestly not sure yet. I'm going to drive this car into the ground. I got some great tires for the winter recently, wasn't cheap.

Couldn't find my last post. But I mentioned a colleague went to Alaska a while ago on Holiday, came back & bought a Big S 'Merica Truck.

A while ago I was in the office & saw his big boy again so I thought to share here.
I think it is a Ford Ranger.

The ranger was a thing here in the states, maybe originated here (but I think mazda designed) then they killed it but stayed alive in the rest of the world, but when it got to its current size that’s when it returned to the states, but we don’t get the cool high end off road version or diesel variants as well…. I think there’s a top gear or gran tour (forget if it was clarkson or Hammond) episode where they have the euro spec ranger raptor with a diesel engine that makes sense and is pretty badass.

*edit to correct sentence

I meant “it stayed alive in the rest of the world”

Have you watched this yet? I’m about half way through. I’m enjoying the details.
Only seen about less than half. Same? I’m glad someone is doing an extensive deep deep dive. I was thinking maybe savagegeese would do it, but it sounds like Tesla is being real particular on who gets press cars at the moment. The hagerty one has been the best so far, from insightful and entertaining point of view
