The official 'I don't know what this thread is about any longer,' thread.

meh they won't even have a performance gap soon. Devs are simply not going to take the time to make a game better on PS4 or One unless MS and Sony pay them to do it. Devs will hit a balance and just use that across the broad even if one system can do more then the other.

So where will the 50% advantage show itself then?

What we've all known, the Ps4 was easier to code for out the box but the one was also capable of high end performance. The media is responsible for starting this fire, every time a new game comes out it's resolution gate all over.

Once the power of the cloud is unleashed there will be no performance gap. Unless the Xbox One passes the PS4. There's a storm coming. April showers bring May flowers. The One will be in full bloom soon enough.
Bull. f***ing. s***. Once the power of the cloud is unleashed, the performance gap will be massive!!!! :bang::bang::bang::bang:

There shouldn't be a gap in the first place with the $100 premium. MS needs to drop that price.

Really? I honestly can't take any fan boys seriously. I will perk up if I see some 1080p 60fps on the XB1 in an online MP shooter. Then maybe then I can drink the MS kool aid again.

Just for clarification, who is just add water? What games have they developed?

I think they are what Oddworld Inhabitants became eventually, after they sort of fell apart or whatever happened to them. It is (as I understand it) Lorne Lanning's new company, with the Oddworld properties and probably some of the old staff.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification. Here's the quote:

"We had already scheduled an interview of our own with Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray, so I took the opportunity to ask him about this, since the article garnered a lot of attention on the Web. It turns out that Lanning had been completely misinterpreted, and in truth it would be “physically impossible” for Xbox One performance to align with PlayStation 4′s:

"Actually that is NOT what he said. I spoke to Lorne afterwards and what he meant when speaking to that guy was that budgets, schedules and perceivable differences would narrow, NOT that the Xbox One performance is improving to align with PS4, that is just physically impossible. The PS4 has MORE COMPUTE units, and faster memory and a whole bunch of things, that would make that physically impossible to happen."

"As I imagined, then, Lanning had been merely referring to development costs and the likes, certainly not the performance – the hardware can’t change, after all, and there is only so much that a driver update can do."

It's also things like people constantly saying that an Xbox One SDK update is going to put it on a level playing field even though SDK's are updated fairly regularly over the life of a console, or banking on a new version of DirectX fixing everything.

Some people seem to think the X1 is the only machine that's going to get improved performance and that PS4 performance will remain stationary and that's just not the case. Both will improve over time but the PS4 is a more powerful console and will likely always have the better looking/performing multiplat games. This thought process that the X1 only started off behind because their tools were less developed needs to stop, that's a part of it but they can't get around the weaker hardware. The question that those people should be asking themselves is why did a company that is primarily a software company like MS have lesser tools than Sony when launching a new console?

I don't know what that means in the context of this thread, but thought this thread could use some of that.

No once the devs utilize the newer SDK,eSRam,DX12 things will improve IF the cloud is all they say...its increase will come after the things I mentioned.

Of course things will get better for X1. Look at 360 games at launch and look at them this past year and compare.

Of course....things will also keep getting better for PS4. Look at how awesome Infamous looks just compared to launch games a couple of months ago. Imagine years from now.

Developers are already using the eSRAM to think otherwise is ludicrous. Why do people think that all these XB1 game are running from the DDR3? if they were they'd look a lot worse then they do now.

Never really saw it as large to begin with. I mean, all the talk about "50% more powerful" made it seem large. But when the biggest difference between multiplats are 1080p vs 1080p up-scaled from 900p, it doesn't seem that large at all.

People seem to think 50% more power means 50% better looking. Make no mistake though, it is more powerful. With many games being higher res and still maintaining top performance, that's a double benefit right there.

It's no different than PCs.
