I have come to deduction that most humans are all about emotion. Facts, rationality, reality even history doesn't matter one bit as long as it makes them feels good or outrage. Reality only matters when it hit you in the face & you have to physically deal with it (like not wearing warm clothing & got your S froze in a cold night, or writing code that doesn't run correctly).
Yesterday I was hiking with some friends & an Indian Friend started talking about the current affair & to get to the chase, I said everyone includes the Buddha & Gandhi had said/made controversial statements or did some not so nice things. People cannot be judge solely on a few bad aspects of them & ignore other good or via visa.
I said Gandhi had also some not so nice statements about black people before, so are we going to take down his statues ( Turn out 1 of his statue was actually taken down in Ghana due to statements about blacks during his time in South Africa). He went NUTS. Accuse me of BS & conspiracy theory, & refuse to believe me. I told him he doesn't need to believe me, it was his actual words, or record by someone, & not my opinion. He went on even more nuts claiming Gandhi (who I found out his idol) can do no wrong & never ever said racist thing etc. I said, sure I show you the links to his statement. He refuses to see, saying 90% of the internet is fake...The same guy that takes "Internet" at face value if it was something about people he dislikes, but downplay any negativity against people he agrees with or simply refuse to believe. I don't pretend to be unbias, but at least I try to be consistent. If something is bad, or good, I can acknowledge that whether I like the people in question or not.
