It isn't a white PS4: it's a commercial Steam Machines box, or at least a prototype of one. iBuyPower tells us that it's building the box for a 2014 launch, but says it's still early.

iBuyPower tells us that it actually has two models, codenamed Gordon and Freeman, in the works. The two consoles are identical, save for the light bar round the middle -- one model's is clear, while the other's is black when not illuminated. And, while the company wouldn't tell us about the boxes' internals, it did confirm that the hardware will run all Steam titles in 1080p resolution at 60fps.

Looks like a misshapen dong on the case.
 
Yeah, neon pink on white is not good. And the big blocky shape doesn't help much. Yuck.
 
Looks like a combination of the XB1 VCR design + the light strip of the PS4. It doesn't look bad, but like someone said it would look a lot nicer in black.
 
I think it looks great except I wouldn't want that much light coming from my entertainment center.
 
It sure do live up to its name, steam "box".

Is that the Steam logo, or are you just happy to be gaming?

Yeah, that was my first thought, too. Not sure why that didn't occur to the designers. Maybe they're more mature than I am.

Disclaimer: I know what it is, but I wanted to emphasize my shocking distaste for just about everything about its design.

Let's all remember what our mamas said, "It's what's inside that counts!". That and you can paper bag it anyway.
 
Can't wait for them to tell us that the light bar can be used for indicating health and other things.

Then I can't wait for only 1-3 games to use said technology.
 
In reality though I think it looks alright. Simple. I can respect that.
 
Fugly. Pretty it up and offer it for $499 and I'll probably be in line. It will make owning Sony's game box a moot point. At least Wii U and Xbox One have some functionality beyond PC in a console box.

The one model revealed so far is $499 w/ a Radeon 270. The 270 is a rebadged 7870 w/ higher factory clockrate.
 
How will it stack up against the X1 at the same price? I'm actually pretty interested. Depending on how the VR and game library pan out, I might get a Steambox and Wii U, f*** a PS4/X1.
