History shows that MS supports their new consoles very much in the first few years but plateaus off in the latter part of the life cycle while Sony brings a consistent supply of exclusives year after year up till the end of the console's life. Not saying this is the case for this gen but could explain what we are seeing now. Of course, with Phil at the helm of Xbox, that could and hopefully would change.

You are forgetting sony absolutely sucks at the beginning of a generation and this has been the worst sony console ever for exclusives thus far. Even with plenty of time to prepare and ease of hardware development compared to ps3. No doubt they will have the games eventually, but it just sucks because this generation has particular weak consoles, so the differences compared to current tech will be apparent even faster. So we have to wait as the console slips further and futher behind.

Not really. We're only about 7 months into this gen and the PS4 already has Killzone: SF, Resogun, Infamous: SS, Final Fantasy 14: Realm Reborn, MLB 14 The Show and that's just retail; not to mention a bunch of exclusive smaller/indie games like Transistor, Trine 2, Outlast, Steamworld Dig, etc. Not too shabby at all. There's also a whole bunch of big name multiplatforms out so there's plenty to play on the console, no slipping at all.

You got me. Sorry I forgot to mention the slight intermittent frame rate drops on the Xbox one version of AC4. That makes the difference in image quality drastic, I tell you!

It's odd seeing Xbox fans now saying how inferior AC4 was on Xbox One. And you saying how close they were. Is this real life?

I never saw a difference in AC4 via gaming media. Same for Watchdogs. But I haven't seen each version of the games on my tv.

There is pretty much no difference between X1/PS4 versions of AC4. The X1 runs at 900p, the PS4 at 1080p. Those two resolutions are indistinguishable from one another. Oh, and I have the X1 version of AC4, and there are no frame rate issues.

Not sure about "etc." but all those others aren't exclusive titles.

Yeah, I know you're trying to prove a point there naty, but since you're using a still, I could easily say that those differences are less about resolution and more about aliasing being better on one system. In the act of actually playing the game, the differences are virtually non existent.

Fair enough but the aliasing is more noticeable in lower resolutions too.

Sorry, I meant not on the X1 so I guess I mean console exclusive.

Well, I guess, its not really a quality or near blockbuster exclusive lineup other than Resogun. I'm comparing to like an original xbox lineup though, they had more at launch than sony does with 8 months additional time, not to mention sony had 7 years to prepare. Sad.

Ok, I know I've been guilty of derailing myself. But can we get back to talking about Watch Dogs and stop making this a pissing contest.

Can someone please confirm for me that the side activities in Watch Dogs are actually fun, varied not boring as all hell like those found in Infamous. I mean seriously, Infamous has got to be the first open world game I played that didn't have much to do outside the main campaign and that was a big issue for me. A lot of the fun for me in open world games is going off the beaten path to extend the enjoyment of the overall package. But that really wasn't the case for me with Infamous. AC4 has tons of super fun side activities. Hell, those side missions have given me more enjoyment than the campaign has. Dead Rising also had loads of things to do beyond the scope of the campaign.

They're boring thus far. Same thing over and over. No where near AC4 or DR3.

That's your opinion. There's a lot of quality in the titles I mentioned but if it doesn't appeal to you, that's fine. I'm looking at the original xbox line up and nothing seems to jump out for me either.

I haven't played too many side missions yet but I've done some police distracting car courses and saving some civilians. Not sure what else it has to offer yet.

Well that's disappointing to hear. That's what Infamous suffered from. All the side activities were the same exact missions in each district. I take it Watch Dogs wasn't developed by the same house that made AC4. If it was I would have thought they incorporated what worked so well in AC4. In AC4 we had side assassin contracts, we could go shark/whale hunting, treasure hunting, lay siege to forts or pillage other ships for their cargo to upgrade our ship. All that was outside the main campaign which made the overall package well worth the price of admission. Ohh well, I guess I'll find out how good or bad Watch Dogs is soon enough. I have my PS4 copy sitting in wait as I try and complete my second play-thru of Tomb Raider and if you haven't played that you guys are really missing out.

They are fun enough. Especially the CTOS towers and the gang hideouts. The driving missions are challenging and have you either racing the clock to deliver cars, or driving fast through town to distract the cops.

There are also the digital trips and augmented reality runs collecting coins. The crime prevention stuff is same though. Finding the guy hacking you is intense.

There are also hidden equipment crates, qrc codes to find, conversation that leads to crafting component stashes, convoy attacking, etc. Pretty good if you ask me.

I also have fun with the arcade style driving once I got used to it. Just remember your hand brake.

I've got around 7 hours in and I'm only on the 3rd campaign mission. Hope that helps :)

Just finished Act 1. Watch Dogs is awesome. That's all there is to say. If you don't like it that's on you.

Eurogamer stated the differences, not me. Their the ones that wrote an entire paragraph about why AC4 didn't measure up to the ps4 version, but summed the xb1 version of WD as surprisingly close. Sorry. Your agenda doesn't work this time. Spin harder.

Did you even read the Eurogamer articles you posted? Other than the fact there is no complete Digital Foundry analysis yet for WD (just an initial preview), the article you posted stated exactly what I said. The difference in AC4 is really just 180P of resolution. Oops I forgot there were slight intermittent frame rate drops. Is that what you are on about? That's the "drastic" difference? Sharpening filter doesn't count by the way--that no longer exists on Xbox one and had nothing to do with the game. The differences between WD is 98P and also effects, lighting and screen tearing. I know that doesn't fit your narrative that "the gap is closing" but you don't need to try and spin AC4 on the Xbox one to look and perform worse than it really does.

That sounds much better, thanks. I have to make a correction about what I said about missions being the same. All games only have a limited amount of content and much will revolve around doing similar actions connected to the core gameplay. But I think the point I was trying to make before was whether or not those missions are fun enough to keep me playing and add fun distractions from the main campaign.

I don't think I can wait any longer and will have to dive into the hacking world of Watch Dogs sooner than I thought. This game is getting mixed reactions from gamers and because of that I'm eager to see if this is a game I will like. I want to like it because I don't have any new games on my slate until August and while this certainly won't last me until then I had hoped it would keep me distracted for a couple weeks until Diablo 3 hits which outside Destiny/Batman is my most anticipated upcoming game.

Well, of course.

Its still fun though, not as bad as Infamous.

I quoted them, read them again. It probably just doesn't spin the right way :)

Anyway, back to Watch Dogs. The one I am digging about this is the hackable barriers, that does not get old(yet) in a cop chases. A couple of times they have messed me up though.

So I'm probably going to pick this game up tomorrow.
I have the new Nvidia drivers.
I have a gtx superclocked 780.

Are the issues on the PC side largely solved....or should I just wait?
I do want to play the game.
