VFX_Veteran I think you are just a little bit ahead of me in the story. I'm supposed to now see the Witches of the Woods. I am holding off however so I can explore the northern big city of Velen.

I had a pretty good fight with a bear. Playing on Blood and Broken Bones. That bear put up a fight.

The first ability I took was Suns and Stars. I kept eating and eating to keep my vitality up. If I keep up that pace, Geralt will be fat by the end of the game.

Playing on PC and looking good.

Did you tweak your settings? If so, can you share them? Your detail looks pretty sharp.

Actually I saw them first instead of going to see the Baron.. I'm on my way there though after a few sidequests.. :)

Can someone playing on console let me know if the blood is in the water when you kill a monster? Just curious if they have that feature too.

Yeah man holy s*** am I getting owned.
Left and right. Freakin Roach is acting like Judas at every turn. One particular instance we ran into a bunch of frenzied Drowners and he flung me off and fled. Guess he had somewhere to be?
There was like a mob of Drowners. I was down in record time. I GOT TORN TO PIECES. :meh:

It is definitely an ass kicker all right. Not sure what level you are, but my advice, Make the alchemy potion swallow ASAP. Also, fully upgrade the first stage of Quen(the shield) as quickly as possible. Those two things I have found invaluable.

I've already died 3 times on the easiest difficulty and I've only reached level 6.... :(

Just messing with the Sharpen post processing.

I probably should've taken it in a brighter area, but whatevs.

Ultra + Hair Works = 30fps now with one ini tweak. Still debating.

edit: scratch that, almost all Ultra. Foliage distance is toned down to High and DOF keeps goofing up my frame cap (making it +1 or -1 inconsitantly).

I think that feature just got added with the recent 1.03 PC patch. Consoles are still on 1.01 or 1.02; with 1.03 in certification.

Wow. this game just keeps on giving! Every time I sit to play it, I'm engrossed for a couple of hours before I have to make myself stop playing. I got tons of incredible screenshots I'm going to post up in full 4k res.
4K!, what system you are running.

I have a 970GTX, i74790, 16G, & it runs well at 60fps (no Hairworks though). I think it will required a beast to run at 4K.

Anyway a few gripes for the game.

-It could be just me, but combat on horse feel clumsy. I much refer fighting on ground.
- Comic strip cutscences are not skippable. I do not know how many times I have to watch the same cutscene when I reload.
-No local map (like cave) other than in minmap, which is standard in most games.
-No fog of war. I remember it was in D2. (Fog of war is a Warcraft terms which means area not yet explored are in a darker shade, or fog (on the map)). This help you to see which area you have or have not explored.

Just about to leave white orchid. Did over 9 hours there. Just running around exploring and discovering new areas and nearly level 4. Awesome game so far, enjoying it as much as Skyrim :bang::banana::bang::banana::bang:
The next main area is FAR bigger. I estimnate it is about 4-5X larger at least!

I play also play on Blood & Bones, & have sun & stars, but its a chore to have to equip the skill in order to use it. Some skills should be passive (do not need to equip), in my opinion.

Occasionally, I wonder to lower the difficulty to normal, not so much as monster is too tough, but to cut down on extra chore like eating food between fights or equip & wait for the long regen of sun & stars, or use swallow but use alcohol to gain back potion during meditation.

I heard normal and below may be a little easy for witcher vet (those who play Witcher 2), but I not the type that go to for high challenge in game (I normall pick 'normal' difficulty in games) . I hate to mircomanage.

I am playing on the 2nd difficulty level as I want to enjoy the overall experience and not get frustrated!
Really loving it so far!

Played 58 hours, really need to stop doing all the side quests, just too much, sow far have had 2 side quests failed because they was connected to other quests (one of them even said was completed, but then later said failed). Level 20 and I still much left of the game.

I did 24 hours already, according to steam, & I thought I spend too much time on this game already!
I am guessing it has similar length to dragon age which I had put 110+hours, & still have side quests not done.

Honestly, after this game is done, I have to stop playing game for a while, to get back to my game development which has been on hold for way too long. Its silly I kept paying for monthly subcription of some development tools & not using them!

But nevertheless, I will enjoy every bit out of Witcher 3 before getting back to real work.

Is next area Velen please?
Yes. Its pretty overwhelming when you even see the map. There are huge river network, so you need to travel often by boat. Its pretty awesome so far.

Edit: Not wanting to make a new post, but I heard higher difficulties yield less XP! No wonder it takes ages to level up. I think I switch back to normal. I like the challenge of monsters on hard, but it doesn't make sense, to be level 15, when I could be level 2o playing on normal. Slowing progress as a mean to add challenge is lame. Lucky I am only level 8 now.

I keep being amazed when people say they don't see framerate issues. I have now tried it on my 50 inch, a much much smaller PC monitor and TV and i still see the hiccups. In fact, in the area i am in now, right after leaving White Orchard, it's crazy how much i see the hiccups when simply rotating the camera to look around. I guess some people really just don't see it. I just hope they get to smoothen this out as soon as possible.

I agree with you in part. I don't have many abilities at the moment, so it's not an issue yet.

I do prefer story over the difficulty; I just haven't crossed it here yet.

In Dragon Age 2, I finally lowered it to easy just to finish the story line. The combat was horrendous.

I'd try reinstalling your game. It doesn't seem to be affecting everyone's game. I'm certainly not seeing it on my 55" tv and I would notice it as I can clearly see it on the vids you uploaded.

I reached level 15 tonight, the more I play the game the more I love it.

Here is a quick random event I encountered. One negative I have to point out about the graphics is the rain effects are pretty poor, given all of the great atmosphere etc they create with the weather system it's a little disappointing that they couldn't get better looking rain drops in there. Most people probably don't even pay attention to things like that but rain is something I'm always pretty pick about in games. On the plus side I really like the fire effects they use in the game, I know it's 2D but it still looks better than the fire in most other games.

On the PS4 there is blood on the ground under the water but I haven't seen any floating on top of the water or anything like that.

What the hell...ok that is weird yeah. Hmmm...i have never reinstalled a game on Xbox One before. Do i first delete it and then go to the right and install it again from the ready to install thingy?

Yes. Just remember to not uninstall your game save, it's on the right hand side.
It's worth giving a try because it's obviously a bug as it doesn't affect everyone's game.
Really hope it fixes it for you because that stuttering looks annoying. Same on PS4 version but again only seems to be affecting certain consoles.
