The Witcher 4 - Project Polaris, First Of New Trilogy - 400 devs working on new game now

Wither 3 was announced in similar fashion.

Cyberpunk is a blip on an otherwise decent record. Them announcing it early had zero effect on how the game released.

I mention the early announcement more in relation to the detrimental effect it had due to the hype around it, not necessarily the state of the game itself. Witcher 3 was also marketed for far too long. I think CDPR just have a bad habit of revealing their games too soon tbh. To me its annoying when a game has to be promoted and marketed for over 2 years...

After oblivion how long before the world got fallout 3?
It was 4 years between skyrim and FO4 and it'll only take longer this time, the game will undoubtedly take more time because it's being made for more powerful hardware.

How was it detrimental. The game had hype just like every other game does. Again, it being announced 3-4 years before release is irrelevant. It had mad hype all the way up to its release. So, again, the announcement time was irrelevant and had zero bearing on anything. The game sold like 13-14 million copies in a few short weeks. It simply wasn't detrimental.

The issues came at launch and after. Simply put, this game wasn't ready for release, and this issue is almost an industry standard at this point.

It wasn't announced a mere 3-4 years prior to release though, that's my point. Yeah, 3-4 years might seem almost normal, but cyberpunk 2077 was announced in January 2013 and didn't release until 2020, December 2020 at that, nearly 8 years. I just think it's stupid to announce games that far out. With 7+ years of anticipation I think expectations that the game would be a much more highly polished product were justified, so I would say that revealing the game that far in advance and then releasing the product in the state they released it in was detrimental to the company's image, which they've spent the last year+ attempting to repair...

Doesn't matter. 3 years, 8years, 12 years, makes no difference. You are attributing negative connotations to something that is meaningless.

The game should have been more polished, end of. The idea that that its announcement window has any bearing on this fact is frankly ludicrous.

My bad, I don't think I'll be able to articulate my point in a way that properly conveys my intention. Forgive me, I never went to college.

Anyway, I'm interested in the potential of a new Witcher game but I'll keep any excitement at bay for a few years until we're closer to release.

My guy, I've already said that isn't even what I'm suggesting here. My bad, I don't think I'll be able to articulate my point in a way that you'll get what I'm saying. Forgive me, I never went to college.

As will most off the back of CP 2077.

The whole reputaion of CDPR is destroyed with one game. ...lol.

Yeah I thought bethesda was going to be the biggest example of a well regarded company decimating their reputation, but CDPR was just like "hold my beer".

I don't know a ton about Witcher lore, but would different schools teach different magic signs? Could be interesting to get some new ones.

Unclear on magic. One thing I do recall is the Lynx school added early versions of guns to their monster hunting arsenal.

I also think they had a different fighting style. So, new signs could be a possibility.

I kinda wish Witchers used bows and arrows, but I'm not too keen on guns, seems out of place.

I don't know. They would be single shot weapons I would imagine, usage would be more strategic rather than a viable way to fight. Just depends how they are implemented, I guess.

But it was one of the things that made this school different to the others.

Yeah I would assume it'd be something sort of flint-lock-esque, but even so. I'd be much more interested in some bow & arrow type gameplay than a slow single shot firearm situation, but I know Witchers apparently avoided most ranged weapons in general from what I gather.

Project Polaris, the first part of a new Witcher trilogy developed in-house by CDPR, 150+ people involved, aiming to release every game of the trilogy within 6 years of the first game's launch. Still on pre-production, working on creating tools to streamline development of the entire trilogy.

The real question is, which character will Keanu play this time?

Witcher 3 is probably my favorite game of all time. Excited to see what they can do, but also fine with waiting till next gen for it which I think will be the case. I put over 120 hours into 3.

I wonder if the witcher 4 lets you create your own witcher ( which would be totally cool) or will they continue Geralt's story or pick an already established witcher to soldier on.

Or give one the option of using a female variant…
