MS has also stated that the new Halo will be 1080p 60fps as well, so it not a matter of IF, it's just a matter of how long it will take to process more 1080p 60fps games (which they are already doing now with multiple games).

Project Cars for the Xbox One is also 1080p, 60fps.

I recall them saying it would be 60fps, not 1080p though. I don't recall them mentioning a resolution at E3 last year.

And it's all too late to change now. Geez, guys. Just get the one you want and be happy. You can moan about what MS did all you want- that won't change a damn thing. MS made decisions based on prediction and trying to not take a loss (just as Sony did). That part is over. All of this conjecture is pointless. If it bugs you so much, then I think it's obvious which one you should buy. The Machines shouldn't be carbon copies of each other- otherwise we wouldn't have more than one.

Guess what? Tomb Raider still performs very well- I didn't notice any negatives to the performance. So what if isn't as high as the other version? It's not a slide-show, and the control isn't compromised. It also looks stunning. So Blah, blah blah. This all seems like some kind of projection of insecurity. Would I prefer higher Rez? sure, but as long as it's at least 720p( which is what HD tv channels run at, so it fits along with 90% of what I see on screen anyway) I won't be b****ing. Especially if the games are sporting great graphics.

On a positive note- I just played DR3 post patch, and It looks much, much better without that Sharpening filter. Looks much more CG-ey to me. Me likes. I'll have to check Forza now, to see if it has benefitted

This is the thing: even 4 games arent all 1080p @ 60 FPS but no one wants to talk about that. Truth of it, these games are all over the place when it comes to resolutions and FPS. The only console game in existence is Forza 5 that actually achieves both. People need to lower their expectations. These machines are NOT PC's! They're consoles. If you arent satisfied with the current offerings, and if you are that hell bent over 1080p and 60 FPS on every game, in order to not be disappointing is by purchasing a savvy PC. Otherwise, There's going to be an entire generation of complaining....which sounds about as exciting as breathing hot air on butter until it melts........fo yo toast and stuff.

Ohh god what is it with you and freaking out doomsday stuff lol. 720p is HD should n't it then be embarrasing for cable that it's delivering 720p when their competition is doing 4K? LOL (bluray/dvd) and unless u got 50"+ tv and sit closer than 5-6 feet then what's the problem it won't make a diff to u.

Isn't it embarrasing that PC competition is doing 1080p for years? Or shouldn't it be embarrasing for Wii that they got lower res? Maybe different console makers have diff things in mind?

The answer is, no, it won't mitigate the power difference. It simply can't. It may allow for some very cool and interesting features, but if you're expecting prettier games because of it, you'll be disappointed. You can expect more dedicated servers and more and more interesting uses of remote compute, like Drivatars. But the latency involved will never really allow you to make noticeable gains in visible graphics performance. Sorry, that's a pipe dream.

I think the point I'm trying to make is, it's an issue. Didn't stop me from buying one, but it's turned out to be more of an issue than I thought. If it's still an issue in September, then I'll actually be a bit pissed.

More to the point, it's an issue because it's hurting sales. I hate the idea that PS4 is outselling Xbox, and that the gap might widen. I could care less about the bleating of fat 13 year olds on the internet. But that means poorer support from 3rd parties down the line. That means the outside chance of next generation, some corporate asshat at MS saying, "let's just drop it", and I lose some of my favorite franchises. And Sony returns to their PS2 levels of arrogance (take it from someone who was there; you have NO IDEA how arrogant those bastards were around that time).

Again, the power difference wouldn't be a big deal if the price matched the PS4, with Kinect, or was less without. Right now, you're paying a premium for lower quality 3rd party games. And even that wouldn't be a big deal if they had something to show for Kinect, some reason for it to exist, because the motion controls right now are a joke, and thus a waste. It's not a good value proposition to pay more for a system that performs less. At the very least, the prices should be equal. But of course, if they dropped the price now, they'd be blasted for flip-flopping again, and all the numnuts in the financial world would be screaming doom and gloom. This is a very frustrating time.

So let's stop saying, "720 is good enough"; it's not. It's less than the cheaper competition. Let's stop defending Kinect if it doesn't have anything unique to offer. Let's be honest instead of fooling ourselves. I don't know if it makes a difference to MS; maybe they'll listen to someone and cut the price. We're honest about the things we like, so let's not insult our mutual intelligence and lie by not admitting the things that are problematic.

I agree. I'm fine with many games being better in certain ways on PS4, like NFS. Both have the same resolution and frame rate, but there are some slight differences in IQ that Eurogamer pointed out. That kind of stuff is fine. It's the glaring resolution and frame rate differences that strike me as unnecessary and aggravating. Because at some point, that stuff does affect sales. Not as much as fanboys think, but over time, if it keeps up, it will.

You won't be disappointed with Ryse. It truly is the only real "next gen" game out there. As great as everything else is, Ryse is the one that makes you go "whoa". And I thought it was great fun.

Theres a thread about the hardware differences and tiles, esram, etc in the multi platform forum, i won't talk much about it here, but don't expect 'tiles' to make up the difference, if you want to know more read the thread its called hardware differences between the playstation 4 and xbox 1 or something like that.

Then it sounds like i will be 'out of luck' cause i am using a projector and the size of the 'screen' (wall) is 110 inch. The good news is though...since the X1 will be bought first....i will not be able to compare the two consoles directly. So for a long while i will not know any better. It might change later down the road when i eventually own both consoles. I sit like 5 meters away from the screen, so if i was to directly compare the two, a game in 720p and 1080p...i'm sure it would be quite significant. Unless it has gotten much better for X1 in that regard, by the time i will be buying a PS4. Time will tell

But i don't recall the Youtuber saying Sniper Elite won't be 1080p, just the quote of the developer about Esram. I recall even reading that article where the developer indeed said that about Esram. But he also said the new SKU should let devs achieve 1080p more easily. I agree with you about that nobody ever mentions the games that DID make the 1080p. Which are...NFS, NBA 2K, Fifa, Forza 5 and wasn't Max also 1080p?

AFAIK, the only game not in 1080p is BF4, everything else is.

I do think we'll see lots of 900p. I'm betting devs for games like Ryse will go for 30 fps 900p and crank up the visuals. It comes down to the type of game. 720p is a little low, but 900 is not bad at all. Honestly if you put me in front of a bunch of games I didn't know and ask me to guess I doubt my old eyes could tell between 900 and 1080.

Sometimes framerate is more important, other times graphics. Ryse is a graphics game and nobody would play it if it were 720p but 60fps. Multiplayer shooters like Titanfall need high framerate obviously and would be terrible at 30fps. Better to go low on the graphics and keep things smooth with so much going on. One size doesn't fit all for games.

Yeah i see your point and it's definitely true..plenty of misinformation out there. But most of the time that is not this dude's intention.



Fair enough man, but still...from now on i am just gonna expect the worst. From now on i will just assume a resolution of 720p or 900p. That way it won;t shock me or anything.

Why not just enjoy the games, instead of going on and on and on about the res of some few games. ? !!
