Tengami is a beautifully crafted game with a lovely, subdued art style:
Shovel Knight pays homage to every single great classic NES game, and then some:
1001 Spikes starts you (and up to three other players on the same screen) with 1001 lives. It's unforgiving and at times, insanely difficult, but when you solve a level, there's no other feeling like it:
