Toys For Bob Goes Indie, Possibly Partnership With Xbox As Second Party?

You have the prefect studio for platformera... let them work.

I hope they're not reduced to a support team or anything, I'd love to see some kind of new spyro or anything.

Before the merger I think there has been articles where some of their devs were shifted over to cod.

Hopefully they’re just moving to another building.

Studio has supported COD for about 4 years.

Hopefully they still get to make other games though.

Hopefully it's restructuring and not full on closure. This is a studio with three decades plus worth of history. It's certainly not a good sign for some of the other dev studios in the CoD mines.

Curious that MS would let them go only to work as a partner with them.

Could be. Or maybe the down turn of employees at the big publishers have people rethinking being apart of a large corporate entity. Hell of a coincidence that Saber Interactive is getting from up under Embracer at the same time. And rumors of Gearbox tying to do the same thing.

Always odd when a team goes indie then teams straight back up with thy company they left.

Maybe this is why the office was closed? Part of the teams vision being to allow everyone to work from home.

Maybe. It may have been a good thing for them, since more often than not do leads/founders leave or retire when they get bought out. Phil said he, Sarah and Matt talked with them before hand. So maybe it was a mutual agreement to keep them creatively free as an indie? But still strange they’d want to do so, where other studios like ninja theory and doublefine have embraced it, Tim Schafer was quite vocal about it too.

The office closure was probably in part of it being too expensive. It’s one of the most expensive cities/county to live in in the states.
