Best visuals @ E3 and they could be running @ a optimal FPS as well dat gddr5!

"That’s Nathan Drake rendered in full 1080p glory, using the power of our PS4 engine. All footage you see in the trailer was captured completely in engine. We’re targeting 60fps for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and as you can see, the visual fidelity for our character models will reach new heights. In fact, thanks to the power of PS4, right now Drake’s Uncharted 4 model is over double the polygons of Joel from The Last of Us PS3.

The next generation of Nathan Drake is going to be very real and will explore what it means when Drake is forced back into the world of thieves. He will embark on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. It’s his greatest adventure yet and will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is available for pre-order right now. Stay tuned — we’ll have more information in the coming months."

I hope that was in-engine. It looked great, and 60fps would be beast.

Probably using a cutscene model. Gameplay model will be lower quality or lower LoD with camera distance.

No one else found it interesting that the setting seemed similar to the very first Uncharted, down to the cages hold the skeletons. Would love it if they had to go back to where it all started. Maybe Eddie can pay Drake a visit.

In-engine is not real-time, guys.

It's pre-rendered, just like all their other cinematic for all their games..

The in-game, real-time rendering won't look nearly that good.... never does. ND are king of over-hype, imply-it's-real-time-when-it's-not-so-everyone-thinks-it's-real-time-and-overly-exagerates-how-good-it-looks.

This is exactly my point from TLOU remastered thread. They show something that's pre-rendered, call it "in-engine", and people think that means "real-time" when it doesn't.

When will people wise up?

In-engine does not mean real-time.

It won't look like that in-game, or any-time it's being rendered in real-time.

You don't know any of that. That's purely your speculation.

Naughty Dog does this every. Single. Time.

"It's in-engine!"
Yes. In-engine. They render it with higher resolution textures, more complex models, far superior lighting, and more - all at single-digit frames per second, and then play it back at 60fps, or 30fps... whatever the target frame rate.

"It's straight off PlayStation hardware!"
Sure is... just like any movie. Wow impressive. Not.

You guys are seriously falling for this still? Sony and ND have implied real-time for pre-rendered stuff for YEARS now, and yet you still bite?

Unbelievable.

Well, let's use history.

Every single cinematic of any meaningful length in all the Uncharted games is pre-rendered (in-engine).
Every single cinematic of any meaningful length in TLOU is pre-rendered (in-engine).

Why would this be any different?

No, it's pre-rendered. In-engine, yes. "Directly off a PS4", yes. Rendered in real-time? No. Not at all. Obviously not.

Stop drinking the cool aide, guys. Seriously.

You guys he knows about in engine, just like how the Forza 5 trailer last year was "in engine" and the game looked nowhere near as good when it came out.

I know they said that the Nathan Drake model for the new UC already has over twice as many polys Joel from the last of us but even then it is hard to believe that the model will look that good when playing. I'm sure the game will be a stunner though, they've always gotten more out of the hardware than just about any other studio.

Yeah I mean it's not like Flynn doesn't have a point. But I'm sure it will be one of, if not the most impressive game upon release.

Exactly. It's industry standard to render things in-engine at better quality than you can render in real-time, and then show it as a pre-rendered cinematic and call it "in-engine". But it's nothing more than a movie.

ND has great talent, and I'm sure UC4 will look great... but that video they showed tonight was pre-rendered. It's a small industry, and it's not that difficult to get the facts when you want them.

It's pre-rendered, guys. Get over it.

Of course, just like Ryse's cutscenes are pre-rendered movies. And Forza 5's trailers and the Jimmy Fallon demo. Quantum Break also claimed its E3 2013 trailer was "in-engine" (you already know what that means).

Why don't you tell your (probably imaginary) bosses how you like to stain Microsoft's reputation by trolling and attacking PS4, Sony, and anyone who likes their games on video game message boards. You're doing great things, really, you should be promoted.

1080p at 60 FPS? I'll believe it when I see it. Graphical fidelity at this level on PS4 hardware seems impossible to reach 1080p/60FPS.

You enjoy raining on the parade, don't you?

It's more of a reality check... it's not a bad thing that it's pre-rendered. It's pretty standard... but that's not gameplay, and that's not the quality you'll see when playing the game.

By now, people should know ND makes gorgeous games. There's no doubt that the game will look great... but there's also no doubt what they showed was pre-rendered... and that's ok - but people just need to understand what they're looking at so they don't go making fools of themselves when they claim it's "tEH bEST gFXX eVAHH!" "pOWAH of tEH cELL!!" like they did last gen.

It is impossible.

That's why they pre-rendered it, albeit in-engine.

The final game will look great, but it won't look like that when you play it. The cut-scenes will look like that when it ships, but the won't be real-time.

Sorry, but he is only telling what you should already know. If you have not figured out by now that in engine and gameplay are different things, then you never will. He is not even attacking the game. JEZZUS.

If that's in-engine, then F me. Did you see the water drip off his face? And the sand move when he lunged forward? :surprise:

We need Naughty God's to develop the next Madden so we can finally get some next gen visuals on dat b!tch.

I deleted some posts here. Please, keep it on topic. As for Flynn, I understand where you are coming from, but you've explained yourself enough. This isn't the first time you've gone into a PS4 thread only to argue about differences with real-time and pre-renders etc. etc.

ND should remastered all the Uncharted games (including abyss) for the PS4 before 4 is out. I buy that trilogy in a heartbeat.
