Uncharted 4

Not caring about reviews is obviously valid but I am not sure even caring about reviews means you have to take them as fact like that. Although for the record I do think Journey is better than those games and deserved its praise.

It is moreso the scores attached to them, they seem arbitrary at best and aren't always a good indication of anything most of the time. There is some worth in reviews, just as much a well written preview; the purely masturbatory types aren't helping anyone but marketing departments.

And I don't like journey

I'll send you my copy if you want... or was that a download code, I don't remember.

I think the main issue is that the guy made a friggin' petition over it on change.org... Ridiculous.

If you want to offload Journey, I'll take it off your hands ;)

I just finished the game. Great way to end the series if they are going down that route. Good production values and solid gameplay. And while I did enjoy the game, I agree with Frozpot that the hyperbole for the game is a tad high. Its a good game but after finishing it, I'm not sure if its even the best Uncharted game let alone setting a new standard for games as some believe.

Also beat it and to me they really nailed it. I feel like the story is by far the strongest in the series. Even from the start it feels like there is an emotional weight to it that adds more to it than being a fun adventure with fun characters. Even the treasure story works better for me because of
no supernatural elements and not being about saving the world
. Gameplay wise I am not sure it hits the series peak in terms of set pieces it beats it everywhere else. Shooting is better, more flexibility in the combat is good, the rope is a good addition, and traversing the environment is at its best. My biggest complaint would be that you do stay in one area longer than I would like. The final boss was good fun and certainly the best in the series and the ending was absolutely perfect. Honestly the best game I have played in a few years.

Wow. The visuals near the end of chaper 17! Love the water! The art direction really is master level. Couple that with fanastic tech and you get some real magic. It's a real testament to how much incredible visuals bring. It makes everything more enjoyable! As an artist myself, I am simply in awe of these guys...

I think it was chapter 18 that was my favorite visually. Just stunning all the way through. It's crazy how the game got better and better looking as it went along. I just need to play some multiplayer and then finish it on Crushing and i'll have my plat. It's one of those games worth getting all the trophies for.

Just arrived in Madagascar again, this time on Crushing.....

Unlimited ammo and one shot kills are my friends :hehe:

It's crazy how getting the right lighting can make the character models look so realistic, this is an in game shot I took (photo mode) not from a cut scene but the detail in the skin etc is amazing IMO.

His head looks like it was pasted on his body in this pic :really: and what the heck is wrong with his arm/hand?

Picked this earlier. I've never played any of the other ones. I'm liking it so far.

He's holding a flashlight lol I know that part looked funny to me at first too until I realized what it was, that's one area where the lighting doesn't help the pic, plus his thumb is up behind the flashlight. I don't think the head looks pasted on at all, the detail in his neck/throat area is awesome.

The end was kindof weird. Not the Prologue, that was fine. It's just the way the gameplay changed from what the rest of the game was. Not only were there Crash Bandicoot style events but also the QTE's became more common and I found the movement during them to be extremely clunky. I died more in the final hour of play than I did in the entire game prior. It was a definite dichotomy felt.

The bonus's you unlock are great as always and are quite a bit of fun to try out. I haven't touched the multiplayer yet, I can't see me spending much time on it.

All total, I finished the game in just under 20 hours. I did look for treasures but I didn't search for them, ended up with about 40 of over 100 to find. The game has some of the best jungle I've seen in a game and it begs for more to be done with it somehow in the future. My favorite part was driving the Jeep in what I would call a wide-corridor of play but far from open world. Pretty much the same openness as TR. I believe I can say it is my favorite of the 4 UC's but that may be moreso because it just happened.

90/100 Must have for any PS4 owner, especially if you enjoyed the previous UC's.

I thought the final fight was perfect for such a swash-buckling theme!

I noticed this as well. The detail in the model is nearly ruined beause the shadow map samples aren't small(or high, lol) enough to manifest on his face. It shines in that lighting situation because there is no strong light. It's mostly diffused ambient light there.

When I took that shot Sam was facing Nate with his flashlight too and I used the feature to remove Sams character so I could get Nathan unobstructed but his light still remained so yeah it's kind of a lot of light from different directions going on there lol. Here are a couple I took today where I think his model still looks really good but there isn't quite as much light in the shots.

finished it today. all I got to say is god damn what a game. Man that ending prologue. All I got to say is nobody better f***ing make a new uncharted game unless it's about the past cause the game had a perfect ending for the gang. That ending was just perfect to close out the series.

Man what a game it really just made me feel pure joy playing it and seeing the ending.

so, this game is fully a 10/10 right upto the last fight, once you've lost count of how many times you've died and 10mins turns into 35mins+.... it's like 0/10. sure, ill be back to try again, but....... ffs.

on crushing by the way...

edit.

just read i can enable slow mo and if that works on this fight, Mmmmm.

edit 2.
don't know if slow mo worked or not as it took me a further 55mins with it on...

the sparkles and explosions are amazing but i thought the fire itself was one of the weaker parts of the visuals

Playing through acts 17 and 18 make want to see Gears of War on this engine :O

I really need to get back into this. I'm still only at Chapter 14, but life calls...and I can't play everyday. I guess it's good, I don't want it to end!

I'm having trouble playing any other games after finishing this.

But it's a flop because Uncharted 3 sold more the first week. Even though the PS3 had a bigger install base.

I like how he says Sony put their own spin on it by...announcing sales. Pretty funny video but I can never tell if people like that are serious or just trolling for views.
