What movies have you seen recently?

We finally got around to watching IT Chapter 2 last night. Not as good as the first, still a decent conclusion to the first. It did not need to be almost 3 hours long could have trimmed it a bit.

Knives Out: Meh. I thought it was too straight-forward and predictable.

Makes me realize how I'm not a huge fan of Rian Johnson.

I watched the first Tremors last night before bed. Still a fun movie with great creature effects. All the sequels are on Netflix I’ve only seen the 2nd one when it originally released.

Got our tickets for 1917 a couple days ago. Going to see it tomorrow. Can’t wait!

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: Good

Kind of a strange movie, and not a biography like I expected. Mr. Rogers is a side character, and not the central one.

Turbo Kid:

That was weird and way more violent and bloody than I was expecting.

I don't understand why big film studios don't do this kind of thing because they could easily afford this level of visual FX and the success of Deadpool suggests people would go see bizarro superheroes.

Just got out of 1917. This is a film that needs to be experienced in theater. Watch it on the biggest screen and best sound possible. Definitely my movie of the year. I hope to see it take home some Oscars it is deserving of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, and Best Score. It’s a masterpiece go see it!

We aren't even 2 weeks into the year, seems a bit early to call it your movie of the year.

Saw The Report on Prime. Great movie about all the lies and deceit around torture on supposed high level terrorists. What's nice about it is the flow at which it gives you the information, while throwing in flashback scenes showcasing how these EITs would have gone down. These type of films usually run the risk of being a rather dry experience, but the performances, drama, and information provided in the film were done rather well in my opinion.

Terminator Dark Fate: Decent action, but ultimately a useless sequel that uses retcon to delete the last several Terminator films.

I rented Ad Astra last night. I really liked it. Was an interesting journey across our solar system and the film looked great. What I loved the most was the world building throughout, made this near future seem believable. Plus I never thought I would ever see Mad Max on the moon lol.

That moon "Mad Max" part was the only enjoyable part to me. Glad you enjoyed it though. Looked gorgeous.

Mad Max: Lunar Road. George Miller make it happen.

Really, I thought the story was a bit silly. How is a reactor sending energy pulses all the way from Neptune?

I kind of wished the whole story could be stripped or edited out and just turn it into a near future space travelogue. Everything about space travel was kind of pleasant and I enjoyed it for that.

Done with that s*** game. Got CBS All Access earlier (free trial) to watch the other game. Noticed some movies on there. About to watch The Mothman Prophecies haven’t seen it in over a decade. I remember liking it when it originally released. The real story it is based on was pretty weird.
