What movies have you seen recently?

Paprika

What a ride. Just mad endless surrealism. Loved it.

It loosely involves an invention that allows access to dreams that has been stolen. First, some dream are getting invaded or hacked making people insane, then waking mass delusion starts to spread.

I own it, just haven't watched it yet

Friday July 21, 2pm, excellent seat:

Oppenheimer.

I have never been so stoked for a movie.

Always been fascinated with nuclear weapons and technology. Scary as s***.

My father is a retired Nuclear Engineer, ended up a very high level supervisor. There are several Nuclear power plants where I live, growin up as a kid I used to get really scared at night thinking the plant would blow up like a bomb, and we even did drills to take iodine pills and get on a school bus in case of an accident.

TLDR, also Cillian Murphy might be my current favourite actor, and up there for all time. I am ready for this (really ready, I know it's 180 minutes long, there probably won't be an intermission which sucks)

Mulholland Drive

Movie is still crazy weird. Oddly enjoy it.

Amazing film score work.
I have not seen that in forever!

Awesome Lesbo scene as far as I remember (I hope it's ok to say that?)

And the weirdest thing for me? When the one actress says "I'm from Deep River, Ontario"

Super WTF moment for me, that's where I was born and it is such a random town...never been able to figure out if it was more than random that she would be from there.

Huh, I'm not sure If I'd still like that movie.......maybe I'll go watch that right now.

If liking lesbian scenes is wrong I don't wanna be right

What was I doing back in 2001? Well, must have been doing something enjoyable if all I remember about this movie is that the hot blonde was apparently born where I was, and there was a hot lesbian scene with her and a brunette..........

HAHA! I already know the Swede approves.

Flash - very good if it was a made for tv movie.

The budget CGI was atrocious for cinematic standards. Plot was interesting enough. Good way to explain the new casting for various characters in future films.

Oppenheimer - 4/10

as a Nolan fan i hate to say it but this was just far too long for how little happens, the acting and the score save it abit but man what a slogfest... Tenet was his worst movie by far but this really comes close, he is in a bit of a rut, cant believe the hype around this movie, so disappointed. i don't think i could ever rewatch this

would love to hear from anyone here who loved the movie and why

I couldn't wait for it to end.

Like holy crap, there is so much good stuff in this movie.........but honestly the political s*** with Downey Jr (amazing performance) condense the hell out of that and yes it its a fantastic movie.

Cillian is awesome, Damon is awesome, the Trinity test was mind blowing.

A lot of it was incredible, the political s*** though was just wayyyyyyyy too much. The only reason it is 3 hours long.

I'll be watching it again though, and maybe spend a few days watching bits. 3 hours in one sitting is just too much no matter how good a movie is IMO. And that is totally on me. I had to make my own intermission at a certain point, in a packed theatre that was humid...........

So for me it was a great movie, that I enjoyed as much as I could. Unfortunately I can't wait for movies to end when I see these long things in theatres these days. Same thing happened with Indiana Jones, GotG V3, Banshees of Innisherin.............

Watch it at home is my new thing to remind myself.

Sounds like Oppenheimer is another miss for Nolan. He's on a streak for sure.
I think it's a masterpiece that isn't suited as a summer blockbuster.

Pretty sure it will be something that film students will study.

It's too f'n long for a single sitting and the trailers leading up to it were misleading for sure, in a way.

I'm curious how the audio mix is. When I saw Inception, I though the music score was to loud overpowering the dialogue. I'm not sure if that was a fault of the cinema I was in or if he likes to blast you with a loud film score.

It's not good. From what I can tell about 75% of the dialogue can be understood. Typical Nolan sh*t.

There was a lot of dialogue that I couldn't make out.

And for a film that is very dialogue heavy, that's not great.

I will enjoy this movie much more when I can watch it on my own terms.

Brooklyn 45 - A new Shudder original indie horror. I loved this director's first movie (We Are Still Here), but unfortunately haven't cared for his follow ups. This started off well and was entertaining at least.

The Covenant - Loved this, easily my favorite Guy Ritchie movie outside of Snatch & Lock Stock. One of the best fictional war / military movies in quite a while.

The Tall T - I picked up the new Criterion Ranown Westerns set of Randolph Scott movies. Enjoyed this quite a bit, pretty crazy this was considered a b-movie at the time.

Watched MI Dead Reckoning Part 1 today , it was great 8.5/10. Had action and a good story, what more to ask for?

I like the salute to Uncharted 2 train scenes in the movie 👍
