I bought Star Trek Into Darkness, great movie and it looks awesome on my tv.

is World War Z worth buying on Blu Ray? Have not seen it yet thought about buying it Tues.

I didn't think much of World War Z to be honest. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't much good either. It just felt 'flat' all the way through to me... wasn't remarkably exciting. Mediocre flick, but you could do much worse.

p.s. - I haven't read the book

What's in the box?
If you separate the movie from the book then World War Z is a decent zombie flick. It's not like Zombieland good or George Romero good, but it's not bad either. Brad Pitt did a good job as the lead, and it was enough of a surprise hit (everyone thought it would flop) that it has a sequel underway.

ST: Into Darkness was a great movie, loved every minute of it.

Going to watch This Is The End tonight.

I saw Oblivion on the plane over.
It borrowed the twist of Moon, but it was not as clever nor as charming.
It borrowed the robot overlords vs. rag tag human resistance led by authoritative black man from The Matrix. But neither groups were as fleshed out as those in The Matrix.
From Avatar, it took the idea of the good soldier following orders from the establishment before realizing the enemy are the good guys. There's also the female of the group and the young male warrior rival who doesn't trust him but eventually comes to respect him.

So basically it's a mish mash of other films and stories, executed mediocrely.
2/5

Well... I enjoyed Oblivion even though the true villain of the movie was amazingly generic. It might have been more interesting if the Villain faced at the end was another clone.

But in general I really enjoyed the visual style and M83's score. The story actually seemed Philip K. Dick inspired. Maybe that is also why I like it.

Damn right Oblivion is good.

Just got done watching Dark Skies. Haven't seen a horror film (or whatever you want to call this one) in a while so figured why not. Anyways, it wasn't bad. At least it didn't make me laugh like other "horror" films.

Speaking of horror films, I saw Evil Dead recently (the 2013 reboot version). I find that most horror flicks are pretty lame, but I thought this one was actually alright. Some of the scenes were downright disturbing, and the cinematography and special effects were quite well done. I'd say it's worth checking out. It still has some of those typical, cheesy horror genre tropes, but some of the crazy s*** that happens in this movie is well worth seeing.

I saw that at Redbox and was thinking about it, but went with Dark Skies since it was it was older. I haven't seen any of the other Evil Dead movies but I'll check it out.

I've pretty much decided not to watch that lol, only because the first ones were so great that I don't think it needed to be rebooted, especially without Ash.
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is a pretty good flick, pokes fun at the old school horror films

No. Just NO. That movie is terrible. From the predictable and cookie cutter pot to the comedic spoof ending. Terrible.

Minority Report - 7/10

Still a very solid flick but in todays world of Sci-fi movies it seems to lack something. Not sure what, but something.

Is this available to rent now? I completely missed it when it was in theaters, not sure if it even played at our local indie theater.

The way to ruin Minority Report even more is the read the actual Philip K. Dick short story. You'll wonder what Spielberg and the screenwriters were smoking when they adapted this.

The highlight of the movie for me though was the technology. Especially the Sick Stick.... blaaarrrrghhh.

John Dies at the End : 7/10

Just a goofy weird movie, but I enjoy it. Also, from way back I liked the Phantasm movies and this had the same director and a similar feel to it with a neat pseudo-western film score.

World War Z, 8.5/10. Alot better than I thought it was going to be. Different from the book but not bad at all, I was honestly expecting some quick cash in with very little thought put into it. Glad to see I was wrong.
