If it was no additional sub on Xbox, but still a sub on PC, PC gamers would rage.

Agreed, I can't imagine there would be many people wanting to pay for gold and an additional subscription.

Yep. Perhaps they got fed up of Sony and its fans talking crap?

This was a welcome PR AFTER the acquisition.

I'm not sure why any Sony fan would want this Activision acquisition to fall through. It basically closes the door on Activision ever being acquired by anyone, but frees up $70 billion for MS to pursue a boatload of developers.

Sony and its fans know its not going exclusive but they will lose those exclusive perks which is what they actually fear.

Or MS just buys the CoD IP and rips it from PS day 1. Lol. The tears would destroy the internet.

After the Activision deal goes through, it wouldn't surprise me if MS picked up a couple of smaller devs immediately. Interior Night and Asobo Studio come to mind. Certain Affinity comes to mind as well but I think Tencent is gonna grab them while MS is busy with its current acquisitions. If they're not careful Asobo might be off the table as well come next year.

if that is in their plan then talks would have taken place already to make sure they don't go elsewhere.

Certain affinity would make a fantastic support team

Brazil approved the deal

As reported by Video Games Chronicle, CADE’s belief is that post-merger, Sony will remain competitive despite reasonable beliefs otherwise: “Considering the huge popularity of Call of Duty , it is reasonable to infer that if Activision Blizzard games were no longer available on Sony consoles, PlayStation users could decide to migrate to Xbox, or even a PC, to continue having access to franchise games.”

“On the other hand, it’s also reasonable to assume that if upcoming Call of Duty games became exclusive to the Microsoft ecosystem, players loyal to the PlayStation brand could simply abandon the series, migrating their demand to other games available on their favourite console.”

The statement ended by referencing another competitor to Sony — Nintendo. “As already seen, Nintendo does not currently rely on any content from Activision Blizzard to compete in the market.”

“In turn, Sony has several predicates – strength of the world’s leading brand for more than 20 years, extensive experience in the sector, largest user base, largest installed base of consoles, robust catalogue of exclusive games, partnerships with multiple publishers, brand loyal consumers, etc. – which should contribute to maintaining the competitiveness of PlayStation in a possible post-Operation scenario, even in the face of possible loss of access to Activision Blizzard content.”

I see driedmangoes beat me to it in the other thread whoops.

They have no legit reason to. MS buying them won't kill Sony or the PS brand.
I think people look at larger purchases, like if MS was trying to buy Apple. Not a game publisher for a small division within Microsoft.

I have no idea if it is true or not, but Jez said COD is going to Switch now that MS owns AB. Would be cool for Switch owners if true.

There was also a point raised that if you want any dormant franchises revived (Starcraft, etc.), this is basically the only way that could possibly happen.
