I like how Phil mentioned Elders Scrolls 6 in the end. Just threw that in out there in the end.
I doubt we'll see that game until 2025 or so at best, they aren't even in full production on it yet and won't be until they finish starfield.

Just watched it again and that's exactly what he said, he specifically said in Forza vista.
They’d probably have to sacrifice resolution or frame rate for raytracing in game. It should be an option though.
At least raytraced shadows if anything.

But he then clearly says right after thanks to the power of the Xbox series consoles
What's that have to do with anything though? He says RT in Forza Vista, so in that mode you'll see RT but not in gameplay which is fine because how much would you really notice it anyway vs the performance penalty it would cause?

Forza was the best looking 1st party game they showed and it didn't do them any favors to show "in engine" footage before the actual gameplay, you could see it was lower quality by quite a bit and that didn't have to happen.

They are still hiding Halo, even the gameplay said "in engine" so it was likely being prettied up a bit compared to true gameplay and it didn't even say running on series x, it still has a generic holiday release time frame too.

Calling that footage of Starfield "gameplay" is hilarious, it was all a cinematic, most everything that showed actual gameplay was indie or AA at best other than Battlefield which I thought was underwhelming, it looks like it's going to be really hard to see the other players and I hated the look of that Neon city at night with the dust storm, that's going to be a s*** map to play on for visibility.

The Ascent is timed exclusive like I thought but still one of the more interesting looking games they have and I'm really looking forward to it, was nice to see the release date for the Diablo 2 remake as well.
I don’t think Sony and Microsoft use the term in-engine in the same way. I don’t think Microsoft is as deceitful with the term.
As you said, Halo multiplayer also used the term while it was very clearly gameplay. Forza Horizon 5 looked brilliant.

MS made a point to say in game on series x on two games today if I remember correctly, the Halo footage said gameplay in engine so why complicate things? it didn't even say it was running on series x.

Well it didn’t look like it was anything amazing. So I’m not sure why they worded it the way they did?
