Menace is a huge pessimist. That's just his style though. Him saying cloud is nothing new, is nothing new. However, the extent of how we are seeing the Cloud used to this capacity (in the case of crackdown) is new. I sure wish some would just be excited for all this stuff these guys are coming up with for gaming.

If you aren't excited for all these advancements , it may be a good time to drop the controller for a little while. I find this stuff fascinating and exciting. Can't wait...

Please. I have done nothing but speak positively about the cloud. Do not get your knickers in a twist because I think Sony are also capable.

The cloud isn't anything new, and neither is cloud compute like what MS is doing. Nividia was doing this stuff years before the Xbox One.

Gotta love the implications you people put out for stating facts and reasonable assumptions.

It being free or not is irrelevant to the discussion, but to answer your question, no they most likely couldn't. Having said that, Azure isn;t free for everybody. It is, I believe, only free to game developers on the xbox platform.

cloud processing need arch build up using tech like network on chip something like that
the term is efficient when power is on budget, yes we can even said mobile phone can do ray trace game but can they do it in efficient way....

MS with intel + others already doing that research since 2008
the C++ AMP also doing in software side of the coin

infact some Xbox one director which is also hololens inventor too
has many patent regarding efficient processing using network on chip concept
this can scale efficiently into azure compute for example

It wasn't so much that people thought they couldn't do it as it was people thinking it would not be used in a meaningful way for a long time.

On the contrary, many people actually stated that it couldnt be done due to latency, bandwidth etc. Use of the Cloud was doubted from every angle conceivable.

Got me so pumped, I'm playing Halo MC back to back. Finished H:CE and half way through H2. Still got a way to go with H3,H4
